I love the holidays!!!!!
I don't celebrate Christmas, but I always wished for a Christmas tree. When I was a little Blondiechick22, I sometimes helped my neighbor decorate her Christmas tree. I always loved the beautiful ornaments. I love the cheery holiday spirit, the spiced desserts, the hot cocoa, the tea. Christmas in NY is absolutely beautiful in Rockefeller Center. The gigantic tree is lit up and decorated, and moving snowflakes adorn Sak's. My boyfriend doesn't share my same enthusiasm for Christmas, and it annoys him that I want a tree.

I love the whole spirit of the holidays, the decorations, the good cheer, the joy of
gift giving. Everything but the commercialism.

This is the kind of thing you really need to wok out before you decide to have a family. If this is that important for you and he has no strong religious beliefs against he should support you.

I don't celebrate it, neither does he. That's why he doesn't like that I like the holiday.

Why may I ask do you both not celebrate Christmas? Is it because of a religion that you were raised in? Like Jewish?

I am confused. If you do not celebrate Christmas, and are Jewish, why would you want a Christmas tree?? If you just love the lights etc. Couldn't you say, have a little tree another time of the year,or all year (like some people) that isn't associated with DEC.25 ?? I love the lights of Christmas...and I am not involved in a religion.... other than spiritual, I love the feeling of the holidays,decorating,lights....etc.

No. My family or BF wouldn't allow that...it's like someone who just had a heart attack eating a huge pizza and wings and beer. Just not right.

I don't celebrate Christmas either, but I think decorated trees are beautiful. Decorating a tree to celebrate a holiday began with ancient pagans, so the theme of the decorations doesn't have to be Christian. ;-)

Lots of people
Many Jews celebrate Christmas. Not the religious part but Santa or a tree and gift giving. It's not that uncommon...I know several families that do it, mainly for the kids I suppose...

chanukah has come a long way as far as decorations that are now available. Isn't there a Chanukah store in NYC? it changes merchandise according to the holidays. Even on line you can order decorations,serveware,dishes,towels,aprons,tableclothes..... You can give your place a beautiful warm feeling that works for chanukah. Crate and Barrel sells small glittery glass ornaments that are beautiful- stars and dreidels. Make some latkes and applesauce and you have wonderful aromas....
