An arrest is hard to swallow for an Argos man. 47-year-old Michael Bennett faces a felony theft charge after leaving a gas station with an unpaid pop. That's according to our Read it/Watch it partners at the Herald-Argus. Bennett says it was all a mistake. It happened at a BP station in LaPorte. Bennett stopped at the gas station with his wife, used the restroom and accidentally walked out with an unpaid Diet Pepsi. The gas station manager called police and gave them Bennett's license plate number. A few days later Bennett returned to pay the $1.67 However, he was still required to pay over $600 to bond out jail. The court told Bennett to speak with a victims' advocate. |
