I need help , think my laptop crashed !

Guys NONE of my files will open ! When I reboot I get a pop up that says login.exe not found
then when I click ANY icon, any file it says
no file association found

anyone have a clue whats wrong?? I even tried redownloading AVG and it downloads just fine , but when I try to open the file it says same thing !

Sounds similar to a virus I had a few months ago. We weren't able to do a thing, finally had to take it to the IT guy at my husband's work and have the whole computer scrubbed.

There is a virus out there that changes your file types. I wish I could help you more.

Turn of SYSTEM RESTORE and run malwarebytes in SAFE MODE. Run it more than once.


IMO AVG is not what it used to be & was not catching things it should have. I switched to Comodo.

I can download anything but not open anything.
I tried to go to back up to another date but cant even open the file to do that

but thanks so much !!! I hate to think I will have to reinstall windows

Have you tried booting in SAFEMODE and then running Malwarebytes from there?
