You're downloading a little faster than I am...

Download Speed: 1062 kbps (132.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 360 kbps (45 KB/sec transfer rate)

I don't think mine is lightning fast but I don't see it as being particularly slow as well.

Edited to add: I am also on DSL. And there was someone else currently using our home network while I did the test--I pay for the 1.5Mbps rate. Verizon here also offers a 768 kbps and a 3 Mbps rate.

i did the test littlefoot posted and these were the results from that test:

File Size
2.9297 MB
Time Elapsed
18.075 seconds

don't understand this one at all.

one thing i did notice though is that FF crashed again... and after it does, my computer seems to pick up a little speed. is it coincidence or could this actually be a FF problem and not my ISP??

What ISP user are u using plus are you cable, Wireless or DSL Plus what was the needle saying when you tested..

Also when you ran all your cleaning programs. Did you do this in Safe mode.. If you didnt u need to.. Chances are you have more objectonable data to remove..

earthlink dsl, not wireless. i don't remember what the needle said. i didn't do it in safe mode.

the more i think about this, i think it started happening after the FF upgrade. i also get a periodic 'code 0' error message which freddie said it had to do with earthlink. maybe there is a conflict.

but as i said before, after ff crashes, my computer seems to pick up some speed. also, other earthlink/ff users i know seem to be having similar problems.

before i complain to earthlink, i'm going to wait a bit to see if FF comes out with a fix for their crashes..... that, hopefully, might solve the problem.
