How do I look up an obituary from 1-10yrs. ago?
Is there some sort of free database online where I can read a person's obituary that I'm looking for?

Do you know where and when they died? That makes it easier.
Some state databases list death information from around 1910 up to maybe five years ago. You can find the death date and place that way, then go to the local newspaper (usually you can find those on microfilm at the public library) for the obit. Some newspapers have their obits archived (our local paper has them for one year from date of death) and you can search that way. Sometimes you have to pay to subscribe to get into the archives, though. Without more information, it's hard to tell you how to start. You can PM me, and I can try to help if you like. | ||

This site has helped me immensely over the past few years, hope it can help you too. It's called Legacy.com and stores obits from hundreds of newspapers.
