Has anyone read the series about a vampire by Stephanie Meyer? I think the first one is called Twilight. They look good and have gotten good reviews, I think. I have it on my wishlist at PaperbackSwap.com - but may have to buy it - there are 250 people ahead of me, I think!

Looking forward to continuing to hear about what people are reading and recommending!
I'm exactly the same. I go through a lot of books in the summer. I love to lay out, get a tan and read away. In the winter, it takes me about a month to read one book. I just can't wait til summer... I've never read any of your faves. Will have to check em out.
I DO love vampire books, though. Anne Rice is definitely my fave in this genre.
I'll keep a look-out for the Meyer book.

I consider you all my friends. I don't have time for the friend thing. But thank you for thinking of me all the same

OMG!! I have been saying this for years, his Alex Delaware novels need to be made into movies.....I love the idea of Tom Hanks as Alex and I think Micheal Chiklis would be great as Milo, Robin I think either Diane Lane or Ashley Judd.

Favorite horror author is Brian Lumley, his Necroscope series has always been my favorite and have read them many times. He has a lot of other books also.

Also love Robert McCammon, my favorite book of his is called Swan Song
Read all of Anne Rice and many Stephen King books

OMGosh! It's so cool to see someone else mention Swan Song. It's one of those books that I go back to time and again. I know what happens, but I don't care, I love the journey!

Yes, yes, yes! I read all three, they are wonderful, and are a great read even if you aren't a young adult, which they are categorized as. A friend's daughter recommended that I read them, and I loved them!

Anne Rice is such a good writer, I remember getting my hands on the Witching Hour when I was in high school and reading from cover to cover in one night! All 1056 pages.

Great minds! Chiklis would have to grow some hair, LOL! Good ideas for Robin too.

This is who I see in my mind when I read about Milo.http://www.usanetwork.com/series/mon...ted/index.html

Yes, he fits and I really like him......but Micheal Chiklis is so hot probably too hot for Milo I guess. But I can dream....I would take either one in the role.

As I search around, I find that there was a 1986 tv movie of When The Bough Breaks starring Ted Danson and Richard Masur. It seems to be on dvd, but not available on Netflix. I put in a request for it.

Also wanted to mention another excellent book I read recently, The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. Another book that is supposedly Young Adult, but I would recommend it to anyone.

Not an easy subject matter, and it takes a few chapters to get going, but it leaves you thinking about things long after you've finished it.

I just finished reading all Jean Auel books. Though I had read the first two years ago, I started over and read them back to back. I absolutely adore her books.

I recently found an author I hadn't read before. Lisa Jackson. I received her book "If She Only Knew" from freecycle. I really enjoyed it and will have my daughter look for another by her, at the paperback swap store.

I started Monster by Jonathan Kellerman last night. I too enjoy his Alex Delaware books.

I could go on and on forever. Reading is a passion of mine. The hallway is covered in books for my grandchildren. I say a love of reading starts young, and they all do.

I also like True Crime novels. Not into romance. Read some Sci-Fi and even a Western from time to time.

Appreciate the new leads on some books to try out.

Happy reading!

I'm dying to know -- is anyone else into Classical authors . .

Homer, Victor Hugo, Voltaire, Dostoyoevski, Dante Alighieri, Shakespeare, Mary Shelley, Percy Bysse Shelley, the Bronte sisters, etc.

Classics are my favorite -- if they have stood the test of time (in my opinion), then there must be something truly great to them. I have found that the depth of characterization and the encompassing views of the human condition seem to be the most common traits between them. As much as I like modern authors, I prefer the time-tested ones!

I am a complete classics lover!
I love Pearl S. Buck, Shakespeare, Gosh, all the writers you mentioned.
We used to have to read classics in school, then do reports, have tests, etc. While all the other students complained, it really opened my eyes to loving more and more of them.
The Call of the Wild, the Grapes of Wrath, Pride and Predjudice... they just plain don't make books like that anymore...

I consider you all my friends. I don't have time for the friend thing. But thank you for thinking of me all the same

That's one of the reasons I said she's jumped the shark. I don't care for the directions she's taken with Marino nor with Lucy.

LOL -- I was the same way in school. When the teachers gave us a classic to read and write a report on, I would run happily home to get started!
