Excellent news on many fronts. Great that he got what he truly deserves, and that this will perhaps give all the others room to pause.

Thank God! I hope he rots in a cell for the rest of his life. Now they can turn to her cousin and prosecute him.

What do Utah's Laws say about the Marriage of a Minor? Utah law states that marriage at the age of 18 years and above does not require parental consent. For those aged 16-17, parental consent is necessary. For those 15 years old, the following requirements must be met: Parental consent must be obtained Approval from Juvenile Court is necessary. The court must conclude that the marriage is voluntary and in the best interests of the minor. The court may require premarital counseling where and when appropriate.

The polygamists should be prosecuted for not obtaining approval from the court. Marriage under 16 should NOT BE allowed. PERIOD.

That guy scares the crap out of me. I am so glad the girl had the strength to come forward. Hopefully this case will give hope to the women who are trapped into the lifestyle.

I agree, I believe it's acceptable as long as it's between adults (18+). I say that if you can handle it and embrace it without physical or emotional problems then go for it, if that is what you want. I can see how it would be beneficial for the woman to have help, but don't see how the man can take care of more than one wife. Heck, my husband has issues being able to spend enough time with just me and the kids with his busy job in the Army. I don't know if I would be able to "share" my husband with someone else, but that's not really an issue or concern that I'm going to have to address in our marriage.

I believe marriage for anyone under 18 is a bad idea. You don't really know what life is about and hardly know who you are as a person. Very rarely does it end in a good happy ending.

Now that Warren Jeffs has been found guilty the man he arranged to marry the man's 14 year old cousin is charged. Good riddance.

Washington County prosecutors charged Allen G. Steed with one count of rape Wednesday - a day after his former wife's testimony helped convict polygamous sect leader Warren S. Jeffs for the same crime. Steed, 26, last week stood at Jeffs' trial and quietly denied ever raping Wall. Accompanied to court by his attorney, Steed said he was willing to risk being charged because he wanted the truth out.
