Different, No. Microwave, yes.

I used to use a rotating popper pan on the stove, oil, butter, etc., etc., but I eat popcorn so often it was too much of a hassle....so microwave popcorn won out, especially when I can get 24 packets for under $6.00.

I'm hooked on the popcorn flavors they sell at Williams-Sonoma. Just shake them on and you're good to go. Our favorites are white cheddar and sundried tomato.

Good stuff!

Smile Hot Air Popper Fomr the Thrift Store
I buy it in simple plastic bags as kernels from my local grocery.

My son has been making popcorn with a hot air popper for years now from age 12 up but I am sure except for the plugging in part any kid could do it and help out.

Now that you have a huge bowl of several batches of popcorn you use "butter spray" on it. You can get OLIVIO or I Can't Believe Its Nott Butter Spray or any refrigerated spray butter substitute. I have even used buttered PAM- but the refrigerated sprays taste better. You add almost no calories or fat. spray that all over and coat, and toss, and spray etc then add the salt or any spices you want to it stick, because hot air popcorn has no oil and isn't wet or greasy before this step.

You have made the healthiest version of popcorn you possibly ever could and it tastes delicious.

-------Confessional------------
I have something to confess--my son loved the taste of the spray so much and is a little chubby, so that when i went to the movie theater I snuck in a bottle of almost used up spray and bought their popcorn from them (yes I know they use oil but their butter like coating is a heart attack waiting to happen) then sprayed on my spray for my son to eat, several times as he ate his way through the bucket. He makes fun of me still for doing it, but the funny part is, he loved it and asked me to do it several times.

My ex mother in law always made popcorn in bacon grease.

I love Orville's buttery flavored oil. If I have it, I pop it in it, then put it on top.

I don't like flavored popcorn though.

We are big popcorn lovers. I buy Pop Secret Homestyle most of the time. I have a faint memory as a kid. We had a big metal, sort of mesh type popper. It had a long handel and you put the popcorn on the basket. I think we had to pop it over the gas stove. I can remember how wonderful it smelled.

Popcorn in bacon grease tast and health wise. ~shiver~ I am WEIRD I like plain popcorn. Air-pooped no salt, butter nuttin. You can eat poounds of it without consequences I mean except having to go to the bathroom. Great fiber LOL

Ok OK I LOVE Kettle Corn so much I would eat it all the time BUT I am trying so hard to keep my health good. My energy levels drop so bad I cannot even type if I start eating refined sugar and refined flour.

So I indulge now and then. Tabby those shake on thigns sound tasty I will check them out BUT probably will ahve to go with some from Wild Oats with no added stuff. i know that is waht makes it tasty tee hee

I am not Rocky . I am ~JEWEL~
