Anyone from the beach area?
SoCal, Redondo/Hermosa?

Don't you love the pretty pictures of 12' of snow burying cars and homes? Don't you wish we had that too?

Me neither.

I'm a former beach person, now in cold and snowy midwest. Why did I ever leave SoCal?

The reason I moved away from NY
Years ago, walking to the subway in 18 degrees and a blizzard, and I decided one day I'd move away from NY.

I'm 12 miles from Malibu, in Ventura County Wouldn't trade this weather for all the tea in China. It's supposed to be 82 degrees by the end of the week...can't beat it.

I'm out in the desert where it's a brisk 62 right now but we're supposed to be in the mid 70's by the weekend, and we don't have the marine layer to contend with.

I'll take the marine layer . . . we don't get snow.

Yeah, I don't mind the marine layer either...it usually burns off by the afternoon for us, then sun, sun, sun.

I hate to shovel snow. I hate to drive in it. I hate the bitter cold, and hate paying utility companies to heat my house.

But yesterday when I had to go out, I was awestruck by how beautiful it was.

Eight days a week is not enough to show I care.

I like looking at pictures of it, but have always found that the experience is a little more muddy than the whiteness shown on post cards

I used to live in Ventura it was my favorite place to live in SoCal Lived on Poli and could see the ocean. I miss the sound and smell of the ocean. But I must say I found I love the seasons we have here in WA.

I voted for "that one"

It really depends on where you are and how long since a fresh inch or two of snow has fallen. If you are out of the city, snow can gleam like diamonds in the sunshine. Of course it is still 17 degrees with a wicked windchill, but it does look nice. We got our 8 inches lof snow last night and it does look nice. When the snow is heavy and wet is when you get the beautiful trees covered in snow. This was all powder and fine where I live.

I will be staying inside as much as possible! The Michigan cold is not perfect, but we get few tornados, no hurricaines, almost no earthquakes (California people would never notice them) and we don't have wildfires for years at a time. In many ways we just might have you beat. If you want beaches and boats, the great lakes provide plenty of that. Heck, we even have ice fishing if someone wants it.
