Help with buyer on Amazon...
I won an XM Roady 2 from a GMAC sweep. I ended up listing it on Amazon, and all. I shipped it out when it sold. Today, I get this email...

So what now? I don't have another one, of course, and if he's gonna go "cancelling payment" (does he mean CC dispute) I want it back. Am I supposed to refund shipping? Looks like I am heading for a negative feedback - yikes

And if it really is not working...I guess should I contact the sweeps people?

Oh great...I just realized...what if I get the one he was replacing as his "broken" one? I think I'm screwed. Dang it!

I think it sounds pretty fishy that he is not in the country. Can you confirm from the GMAC sweep what was shipped out and then contact Amazon? Or can you also confirm with XM radio somehow? I'm not sure how all that works.

I could try to get them to verify that I was a winner and that they sent me an XM Roady 2. And probably also see that I never activated the free 3 month subby that came with it.

I am also now more confused about whatever these "color panels" are....I found out that you can change the background lighting color, but there are no panels or whatever that would be attached like he said. I never even took it out of its package.....

Alot of times, scammers will return their broken crap in place of a new item, file a dispute and end up with a free product. Tell him that he can return it, but you have the serial number on record, and you hope it is the same as what he is sending back. Maybe he will think twice.

Oh, that's a great idea. I don't have it on record (I suppose I should start doing that as needed, grr) but I am sure that would make him think IF he was lying.

It sounds like a scam. I think you need to contact amazon.com and explain the circumstances of the transaction and see if they can offer you any advice or assistance.

Here's the email I am sending...I think it's professional and polite enough...wonder what will come next.

Hello. I am sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your purchase.

I assure you that I have never used this item. I do not have a subscription to XM Radio. May I have some clarification - what do you mean by " I noticed it odd that it already had one of personalizing color panels on the roady. Those are not attached when first bought." To make sure, I checked the product descriptions for this on several websites. There is no mention, nor any pictures, of any kind of "personalizing color panels" that you can attach that come with the unit.

Per these guidelines, please return the XM Roady 2 to me. Once I have confirmed the condition (whether it works or not, and whether it is in the same brand new condition, no scratches, etc) , and whether the serial numbers on that unit match the ones on the unit I sent out, I will provide a refund.

Hmmm...I guess there are such things as color plates that come with it? I am so confused. Could they have shipped it from GMAC with a plate on? I don't recall there being any on it, though.

The color plates are black red and blue - I am quite sure I would have noticed that. (Well with the exception of the black - that is somewhat close to the original so I am not 100% sure - but pretty darn sure) I haven't sent that email yet. Hmmm. I'll ask him what color. If it's anything but black, I will KNOW he is up to no good.


Oh glory be...I just found out that to get your XM radio serial number, you plug it in and turn to channel one...so if I claim to have a serial number, it would theoretically mean I had used it.
