What if I'm not always available at the phone number I provide on entry forms?
When a sweeps requires a day and evening phone number, what do you put for the day number when you work and are not always available for phone calls? I know most companies do not notify by phone, but some may. Or for those that do shift work, how do you determine which is the day/evening number. If I am doing a snail mail I can indicate work and home. But, on line entries do not have that option.

I have a similar question considering that I live in two states and kind of "hop" around like my avatar. I wonder if they call and get a machine if they leave a message or try back and then finally choose an alternate winner. I wish you could specify on ALL entries that the best way to contact you is by e-mail.

Most effective way for me: I list my cellphone number in all cases, since it's always on and always with me. Only exception was AT&T who seemed to really want your "real" home number.

I list my home phone number for both the day and night numbers. I also list my home number as my work number too. I teach school, and so I'm not able to speak to someone right when they call (which is good in the case of angry parents), but it also prohibits me from receiving a win notification in person.

I would feel better having a win notification left on my answering machine than with our school receptionist. I just knock on wood that if I win something big, a message will be left on my machine.

When I won my DVD Dream System from Sony, they did call the school where I work to verify my employment there. I had provided my correct work number on the affidavit thank goodness!
