Unresponsive Ebay buyer: Now I'm the bad guy?
I mentioned earlier that I hadn't had any response from a buyer. After three emails, I started an unpaid buyer dispute, which immediately (and I mean within twenty minutes) caused the buyer to contact me and tell me that she'd been out of town. Fine. Suspicious, but fine.

Then she says she's not sure the item includes everything she needs. Why did she bid on it then? So I agree to include a cable that wasn't originally part of the auction, at no extra charge. Now she's getting slightly snippy in her replies. You know, the kind of snippy that doesn't cross the rude line but is firmly straddling it. I realize she is new to Ebay, and I don't know how the automated dispute system works either.

I responded to her response that she was sending payment by saying, "Thanks, I'm awaiting payment."

Her response was terse, saying that I would get payment "just like she said I would," and I just get the feeling that she thinks I'm being a d*ck. I don't think I am. In fact, I think I've been very patient. None of this would've even been necessary if she'd just communicated properly from the get go.

I feel like things are going to get worse if I receive a money order or cashier's check rather than Paypal. I'm betting she didn't read the part of the auction that states that I will wait for those to clear before sending the item. If she had behaved in a more straight up fashion, I probably would go ahead and send it, but as it is I'm not sending her a $200 item without making sure the payment clears. She's probably going to have a hissy fit about that. All I know is that she better not leave me a negative feedback or my blood pressure is going to go through the roof.

That sucks. I had a buyer last week that I said payment had to be received within 3 days if paying by paypal. I sent him the bill and an email very pleasantly saying I would ship as soon as it was received. Heard nothing. 2 days pass and it is now day three and still no payment. So I drop him another very nice note reminding him payment is due today. Nothing. Two days later I receive the payment in my account. No email...no nothing. So I mailed off the tickets and now he isn't leaving feedback. Oh. well. It all turned out in the end, I guess. Hope he got the tickets. lol

Hope your ebay experience turns out ok too.

its her own fault if the transaction doesnt go smoothly. theres a system with ebay u read what the terms of purchasing are, shipping costs and payment options and how long it will take to receive item, etc, and she is under contract to follow thru since she BID and was the winner. its her own fault and i really hope you get your money.

Gee, I hope it all works out. I don't like dealing with "new" buyers. I had one last week that was from Canada. She mailed me a personal check in canadian dollars. When I informed her that I needed payment in US dollars and even with the conversion, her check didn't cover the cost of the item, she got snippy with me. She then sent me through paypal the difference in the money, again in Canadian dollars and again short due to the conversion. She just didn't get it.

Let her throw a fit, too bad, too sad. Wait for her money to clear then ship her purchase, you aren't being a d*ck, you are being a business man.

I bought a poster from a guy and paid instantly with paypal when the auction ended October 22.
I have sent three emails asking where the poster is, and for the tracking number. (I paid extra for the tracking number based on the % of negs this guy has....)
I am leaving negative feedback tonight if it is not in the mail. It was only coming from one state over, not like it was being mailed from Peru......
Unresponsive sellers are a pain in my butt.

Good luck, SM, I don't think you are being a d**k....LOL

Exactly what I was going to say.

Today off the subject....when are you going to post a picture? There was a rather amusing portion of a thread regarding you and your lack of picture and now I am curious about your looks also.

I enjoy your threads and comments because they seem to come from a person with a sense of humor, but also is intelligent and poingant.

Everytime you respond to the unpaid item thread, buyers receive an email with the subject header: 'MESSAGE REGARDING UNPAID ITEM #xxxxxxx RESPONSE REQUIRED. She may have thought you were being a little too persistent and that she was expected to reply since she was prompted by eBay to respond.

When I file, I automatically reply to the thread with a canned response to counteract what I have been told is a slightly intimidating form letter from eBay.

This is simply a friendly payment reminder to let you know that we still haven't received payment from your auction item(s).

Item(s) will be held for 7 more days and then will no longer be available.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and if there is anything we can do to be of assistance PLEASE respond to this thread or contact us at xxxxxxxx. Have a happy day and thanks again!

I don't know why people get so defensive about these. They act like you are the IRS or something.

Good luck. Hope it is stress free from this point forward.

I had to send a reminder to someone today. It's ten days past the seven original days. He sent an email to say he was mailing the money order soon and yet still nothing. They get snippy but too bad. I file for my fees back after awhile and if they do it too much, ebay will suspend them.

My auctions always say when and how long I'll wait etc but I think the crappy bidders hold that thought of neg over your head.

Most the time I do ok though. A few bad apples always are going to pop up. Take her payment, let it clear, and then ship. You don't owe her and she committed to a contract when she won that auction.
