Is this a scam contest notification ?
I received a envelope which states " Important Delivery Letter " Second Notice

From: NME in Clearwater Florida

It says : Dear Christine

We are trying to reach you regarding your $ 1,000,000.00 sweepstakes
ID # 861630350.

Please call us at the above number. This is a free call.

On the very bottom in fine print it says:

This Sweepstakes is sponsored exclusively by NME. The TV Guide Logo appears
with the publisher permission for promotional purposes. Prize will be awarded as
30 annual installments of $ 33,333.34. There is no purchase required to enter or
win and a purchase will not improve your chances of winning.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This sounds like selling time shares or property ? I don't want to call because if it is
a sales person I don't want to deal with them or they get my phone number from caller
ID.

What do you advise ?

GLTA !!

I get that same letter every month. I never call. I'm afraid of dealing with sales people too. But I have fun peeling off the the sides. I think that's the only joy I get from that letter is the "tear sides here and here and open here". I'm weird I know.

If you call the number you have to subscribe to magazines to be entered in the mentioned giveaway. Don't call, it's not worth it...

It would be nice if it was actually real huh? But I have received those as well. They are just a scam.

High pressure magazine sales by trickery and deception: primarily the deception that the recipient of their out-of-control sales machinery has won six hunderd bazillion bucks and only needs to call back.

Hateful low-life scum trash

Pat Haines NME(National Magazine Exchange) Clerwater, Florida SCAM
Hi all! I just read all of your posts! This is the third time that I received this same "urgent" letter from Pat Haines of N.M.E. And this is the 3rd time that this letter said 2nd notice! Anyways! NME, Pat Haines, sent me an urgent letter ! Too bad I read all of the posts on other forums before I called. Just curious what they would do and say, she said, OK, we just want to say Thank You for remaining a loyal Credit Card holder, do you still have your Visa card? I said - I don't have a credit card, then she said - oh, OK, how about a debit card with MC or Visa logo on it. I said - Nope! Then she got a little nasty withn me and I said - "I've never owned a credit card in my life" -- trying to see what she would say and she got even more Nasty with me!! She then said - well, if you do "happen" to win the sweepstakes, we'll need a phone number to contact you, then she switched me over to an automated system which said I was eligible for a $1000.00 prize in addition to being entered to win the million! DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!! If you want to call just to see what they say - do the same thing I did, tell them you don't have a credit card, nor have you ever had one!!!! Play their game better than them! Maybe if everyone that they send letters to do this, they'll get the hint that everyone is on to them! So, honestly, don't trust it, and I don't know WHY in the world TV guide gives them permission to put their logo on this JUNK mail!!!!!!!!! So, seriously, let's get 'em at their won game! Send emails to everyone you know about this scam and tell them that if they get this in the mail, call the number, tell them that they don't have a credit card and never did. Ask where in the world they got the information that they had a credit card..tell everyone to do it! NEVER GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD NUMBER! They WILL charge your card for years to come!!!! I've read it all over the scam forums and other places. They go under a few different names! You can go to BBB.com (better business Bureau's website), type in either Pat Haines or NME or National magazine Exchange! You'll see, you can also type it into a google.com search! Se ehow much crap comes up! So, seriously guys, let's play a game with them! I've hit too many rough spots in the past couple of months for people to play with my emotions about a million dollars! I had a baby, car was stolen, can't go back to work, couldn't afford my storage lost everything in it, clothes shoes, everything of mine. We were moving it in little by little and then I couldn't afford it! So, gone -- so trust me - I could definitely use a cool mill! and they need to stop trying to scam people! Anyways - you guys have a great night -- and pass the word along about the fradulent NME and Pat Haines! (which isn't even a real person working for their company!)

Thumbs down Total Scam
I want to thank all who posted the replys. I solved the problem by calling them and telling them to take you off of their list. When i did this the lady on the phone sounded upset but there was no choice in the matter because they have to take you off the list. If you recieve another letter you could have a lawsuit and then theres your way of getting that 1,000,000 they promised you.

I have a credit line
my name is misspelled (First name + Middle Initial with no space between). It is the ONLY case of this in my life. It is a PayPal Buyer Credit line (GE actually is the creditor). NME sent me the "important" letter with the EXACT spelling & address permutation (there are several ways to address mail to me). SO my conclusion- either Paypal BUYER CREDIT, or GE Capital sold my name to these misleading people. I posted about NME about a yr or two ago- found something interesting about them on web (wasn't complimentary).
