My 7 yr old daughter has had asthma for serveral years. I finally insisted that our GP send her to a specialist. I found out she has moderate persistant asthma, she doesn't have full breathing capacity even when she has no symptoms. Our GP and ER drs thought she was allergy induced, but she has no allergies, the drs had been treating her with allergy meds for no good reason. She is virus/bacteria sensitive. They now have her on Singulair and Flovent daily, something called duo neb for episodes, and Prelone for bad episodes. Go to a specialistst, there are alot of new drugs out there for athsma and they can pinpoint your trigger/s. If I hadn't insisted on my dd being tested for what she was allergic to, she would still be taking allergy meds and visiting the ER several times a year.

Have your Dr. try you on "FLOVENT" or "Singulair"
I have Asthma bad enough I was the first to get on SSI for it.
Good luck on finding what helps you.
Myself I hate winter it always has me real sick with asthma.
My asthma has been giving me fits for a few weeks now,and will get real bad soon.

My DH has asthma real bad and uses advair, which is a steroid/preventative in one, as well as an albuterol for his rescue inhalor. Definitely go see a specialist because it is actually bad for you if you are using your rescue inhalor too much. Good luck!

My stepson's asthma is so bad his school sent him home last week and he is not allowed back until he has his asthma under control..they don't want the liability if he drops dead on school grounds. He has been prescribed no less than 8 different medications over the past two weeks...and he just keeps sounding worse....very scary. The fall is bad for asthma...find your trigger and treat that too....stepson used to take allergy meds....but they stopped helping him. I think it's the moldy old basement his mother made into a bedroom for him(I'm disgusted... DH thinks that at 14 a basement makes a cool bedroom) is making him sick but no one wants to test or look for mold down there..so I have to sit and wait until the doctor brings it up before anyone does anything to at least rule it out. Goodluck I hope they find a good method of treatment for you.

My 3 year old has reactive airway disorder which is a form of asthma. He's been taking Singulair for more than 6 months and hardly ever uses his albuterol inhaler now...

My 18 year old son has had astma since he was 3. He's now on singulair tablets, and flovent. He's doing great, only needs his rescue (albuterol) inhaler if he's around animals.
