Smartphones
I don't use mine much because of lack of service.. but.... a couple things I don't / can't figure out...

#1 - I keep mobile data off.. I catch wifi where I can but turn that off normally.. the only thing
mobile date does is connect to the internet when you aren't using / around wifi but are within
range of cell service?

#2 - I've tried texting a photo. I can get the photo attached, but the text just says sending.... which
goes on forever. I don't send until I hit an area that shows me a couple bars. Texting just
words works fine. Is there something I need to do for the photo or is it I need "more power" in
bars?

Might want to check and see if MMS messaging is turned on on your phone. You'll need to Google how to do that, I don't have a clue.

You probably need to turn on data to text a photo - I know I do (because I forget).

Yup that's the photo texting issue.

As for data, some aps will use a little data to do the things they do but you're basically right. Most data useage is pining the web, even photo texting.

Well, I've got tons of data built up on my tracfone so sending a few photos won't do any harm!

Me too and after Irma we had no dsl for over a week so I used data to get my email and look at a few headlines - I was surprised at how little it used.

Sell your smart phone on ebay and go back to a safe dependable desktop computer with landline connection.

What good will that do you when you are out somewhere? Even if you don't want to spend money for a smartphone, you still need a basic cell for when you are out (especially when driving). I got a flat tire Friday night on the way to a concert and needed it to call AAA to change the tire.
