Two Boys Missing In Hurricane Sandy - Separated From Family During Evacuation
Please pray for this family.

Quote:
Police dogs and dozens of cops are scouring Staten Island for two boys, ages 2 and 4, who became separated from their mother on Father Capodanno Boulevard during Hurricane Sandy. The boys' and mother's identities have not been released, but police confirmed they are from Staten Island.

The children disappeared after their mother's car became submerged just before 6 p.m. in or near the 400-block of Capodanno Boulevard in South Beach, police said, a stretch of road fronted by beach and marsh on one side and houses on the other.

By Tuesday afternoon, officers were combing the area and draining a marsh off Capodanno Boulevard, where they discovered and removed a blue SUV and silver minivan, but not the boys, SILive.com reported. The search was ongoing Wednesday morning.

Five people are confirmed to have died on Staten Island as a result of Hurricane Sandy, the NYPD confirmed Wednesday, including an off-duty police officer, a 13-year-old girl, and a father and son. So far, the city's death toll is 22.

Worst possible update.

Police say the bodies of two young Staten Island boys who were reported missing in the aftermath of Sandy have been found in a marsh.

The boys, ages 2 and 4, were found about 15 yards from each other up against debris and a tree in the marsh near Father Capodanno Boulevard in South Beach three days after their mother told police they were swept away by a storm surge from Sandy.

Police say the boys' mother positively identified them at the scene Thursday. She had told police that as the water started to rise Monday night, the car stalled and she got out of the car clutching the younger boy in her arms and her older son by the hand.

As the surge came through, she lost her grip on her son and the boys were swept away by the water, she told police. She said she tried to get help but no one was around.

More than a dozen police officers from the NYPD Scuba Unit had fanned out across the area to search for the boys after they were reported missing. The mother's blue SUV was pulled out of the marsh earlier Wednesday.

My heart is breaking over this story.

God Bless those two little boys.

I will say a prayer for the mother and father during their time of sorrow.

I am so angry. How could this man say no?

Quote:
The boys, 4 and 2, were with their mother trying to leave the area during the height of the storm Monday when their SUV hit a tree and stalled.

Glenda Moore and her boys got out of the car and went to a nearby home looking for help, CBS 2′s Emily Smith reported.

Moore knocked on a manís door for help but he said no and turned her away, Smith reported.

Moore was then clinging to life ó hanging on to a railing ó when a surge of water came up and took her 4-year-old son, Connor, and her 2-year-old son, Brandon, who came right out of her arms, Smith reported.

A mother's worst nightmare. I feel so sorry for her watching in horror as her children are ripped out of her hands and swept away without being able to do anything about it.

The man is claiming that it was a MAN who had knocked and asked the homeowner to go to the bottom of the stairs..and that he never saw a woman with two kids...what goes around, comes around-the man was interviewed in front of his home

I read that original reports stated that the woman went to multiple homes, asking for help, WITHOUT the children. It's beyond awful that these little children are gone, but the he said/she said could cause this guy to get his ass kicked, if people find out his last name/where he lived. Personally, I don't think the guy's name should have been brought up. I would like to think I'd help someone, but without being in the situation, I can't say what I would do. I know it would be easier to help someone with kids or someone elderly before helping a single person.
