Sweeps? Swagbucks? crashing my browser
I got a new computer in January, a Mac Mini. Compared to my prior computer, which was 5 years old when it died, this new computer was great, considering it's the lowest end Mac. It was faster than my old one and never crashed, which the old computer did more and more as it got more obsolete.

Anyway, in February I started entering sweeps and joined Swagbucks. Since then, my browser freezes up at least 5 times a day, on both Safari and Firefox. Happens about every half an hour sometimes even more, so if I'm on for a long time, it's far more than 5 times a day. It's very annoying! I don't see any sign of malware or virus.

Does anyone else have this problem? I did a search to see common fixes, but what I saw didn't seem relevant or just seemed complicated.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for the response. I did run disk utility and found no problems.
I'm running Lion, and hadn't updated anything since January, so I did that tonight.
My gut says that the computer just gets overwhelmed by some of the swagbucks features, which are usually running at the same time I'm entering contests.

But if the updates make anything better, I'll let you know.

Let me know, I have at least one other trick up my sleeve.

I absolutely can not stand add-ons with the browsers. I stayed away from swagbucks for the longest time because of that. I am so glad that I took the plunge with it. It's one of the few add-ons that I have now, but at first I didn't even d/l the toolbar. I just made swagbucks my search engine and homepage. The only thing I missed out on is the daily toolbar swagbuck. I use Chrome for my swagbucks and they recently got the toolbar for it. I haven't had any problems with it at all.

Good Luck OLS members!

Yeah, I have the search, but haven't downloaded the toolbar myself, since so many people reported having trouble with it. Maybe I'll try sometime.

glad that I helped with your problem, you probably should repair permissions once per week if you enter a lot of contests.
