Anyone have PMDD?
My doctor has diagnosed me with Premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Its like PMS but a whole lot worse...yeah...look out world!! She put me on prozac. I'd like to hear about other ladies that have been diagnosed with this and your stories and advice.

When I menstruated, I had it and I was also put on Prozac. I also took special supplements , high in b vitamins, and a diuretic in the 1970 s. I would consider a natural calcium increase, dark chocolate, and a gym membership to work off those anxious and nasty feelings I had, if I was still pre menopausal. I felt absolutely murderous for about a week beforehand.
I wonder if a beta blocker would help too? They are for heart problems and high blood pressure, but sometimes they are useful for panic attacks and anxiety. They help control my BP but a good side effect I get is less anxiety. you might ask about them. My sister in law takes them as needed for anxiety.

I had a co-worker that had it and she punched a girl at a club and she almost did the same to me at work. I stayed away from her from then on. She was scary! Sure hope she got some help.

Thanks for your replies. I have been on prozac since Wednesday. The dr said it would take a couple weeks, but I can already tell a difference. I'm usually a happy go lucky, easy going person, until but still I can tell a difference. .....I would never punch anyone though Calicogirl...LOL

OP - so glad your Dr. gave you an Rx. Also good to hear you won't be punching anyone! The incident I spoke of was over 20 years ago. I liked her alright until that happened.

Mine was so bad, that one of my family members gave me a button with the slogan"beware I am armed and I have PMS" It had a picture of a handgun too, the other diagnosis did not exist then. I am glad you are feeling the difference. Natural supplements might also be beneficial.

Ive had it for years. First diagnosed about 10 years ago. Dr put me on prozac too. Worked like a charm. Took a week or two like you said. At first I was like prozac? Really? But wow what a difference. I was the most horrible B in the world for like 2 weeks a month. Horrible! Nothing like myself, totally different person. Im not on prozac anymore but I still take an anti depressant both for that and for my fibromyalgia. I never want to go off that type of med ever!

I too had/have PMDD.
They tried Prozac but I had a very strange side effect from it. My PMDD caused/causes me to have severe racing thoughts 24/48 hours before my period starts. So bad, that I can't even close my eyes to sleep. It's like a very fast forward movie. I had the ablation last summer for uterine tumors and I haven't had a period since September 2011. I can still tell when I should get my period because of the racing thoughts but now I don't have the actual bleeding. After trying Prozac they put me on Yaz. It helped a lot but now I am no longer on it due to having the ablation. Waiting for my next appt. to discuss other options now.
