My advice is to relax and let Nature take it's course. Don't dwell on it.

Lots of factors will come into play here, like age, or if the female partner was on the pill previously, or stress, etc.

If I was in your shoes, I would keep trying, but don't make it seem like a job, and don't get upset every month if you two aren't pregnant. Sometimes these things take time.

If after a year or so, you could consult a doctor.

Keep in mind, that there is only about a 48 hour window every month where your average female is "fertile".

Hang in there.....................

Is your cycle regular? If not, you wouldn't be able to tell when you ovulate and without knowing, you cannot concieve. If all is normal with that, try going to a local store and buying a fertility monitor or sticks. The monitors are pricy but the sticks are like pregnancy tests. They will let you know when you are ovulating and then for the next 36-48 hours, youll want to have intercourse for optimal results. Even with knowing, its not guaranteed youll concieve the first few months. Don't get discouraged!! It takes nearly all couples in the US on average a year or more to get pregnant so 5 months isn't all that bad. Most doctors won't really help with anything other than telling you to come back in a year if no success. Then they may run tests to see if you and your partner are fertile. Keep trying and dont give up! It will happen soon!!

How about an old wives tale? Supposedly if you take Robitussin, you will get pregnant. I think you are supposed to take 1 tablespoon. It has something to do with the fact that Robitussin has alcohol (or an alcoholic sort of effect) and you are therefore relaxed and not anxious, etc. You could get the same effect from a glass of red wine.

I have had several friends who took the birth control shots, and they had problems because it takes forever for the shot to be completely out of your system. I don't know whether you were using the pill, the depo shot, the patch, or condoms, but I just thought I would mention that in case you had taken the shot.

I believe that things happen when they are supposed to happen, so if you can try to put that aspect out of your mind and relax, that may help a lot. Good luck!

they have fertility boards with lots of women with TONS of information. Id suggest joining and getting in on their message boards and see what you can find out. Robotussin increases your cervical fluid, apparently so does grapefruit juice.. anyways they know alot and can teach you how to properly track your cycle, etc. Hope this helps!

You wouldn't technically be considered infertile unless you tried for a year (85% of couples conceive the first year without contraception) so relax, have fun and give it some more time...

http://www.ovusoft.com/forum - GREAT IF (infertility or fertility as some say) boards.

We had problems as well with our firsts.. And the Robitussin isn't an old wives tale, lol.. I won't go into specifics, but anyone can PM me the how to and why for that (and yes, it does work.. it helped me get pregnant the first time around).

First child took 6 months to concieve and I felt the way you did. However, she finally deceided to get onboard.
Second child born 9 months to the day we started trying to have her. I followed an article I found in a magazine, but right now I have not been able to locate it for you. If I find it I will let you know.

I found the article
It suggests:

Drinking more tea and less coffee and alcohol. Alcohol cuts your chances of conception by 50%. Drinking 2 or more cups of coffee reduces conception odds byt 30%. Women who drank more than 1/2 cup black or green tea a day double their odds of conceiving.

Give Husband vitamin C supplement to boost sperm production. 1,000mg. daily increases sperm count by 60% in 2 months.

Best time?- between 3 and 7 PM women ovulate then and men have 35% more sperm at that time.

Try 5 to 10 days after period stops-you should be ovulating around that time. Good Luck!

Try putting a pillow under your bum after intercourse. That will help keep more of the little fellows up where you want them for a longer period of time. Also, make sure you continue to lie down for 10-15 minutes after sex.
Good luck!

I read that being under nitrous oxide helps one conceive. I couldn't get pregnant for years. I tried and the next day went to the dentist and had nitrous. Very relaxing. I ended up conceiving and having baby. A few years later, I read some article about how nitrous oxide can help conception. Never have seen anything about it since. Nitous is laughing gas that dentists use. All I can think is that it relaxes the body.

Also, I quit smoking. Also I went to fertility specialist and he found out my ex had no sperm available (left him) and that I was half infertile due to tube being blocked. Have you seen fertility specialist? Good luck. Also, there are ovulation kits that really work. Good luck.
