Annoying phone calls.....
Okay, this is getting old and I'm curious if anyone else is getting it. 2-3 times a day the phone rings saying"OUT OF AREA" or "G.E. CAPITAL at 1-330-649-7186" and when I pick it up there is a pause and then someone comes on the line and asks for me. This started two weeks ago. I never say its me, I ask who they are. EACH time they say they are calling from Disney USA. Now, they all have accents and when I ask if they are calling from the Walt Disney Co., they say, "Yes, Disney USA". Last week I called one a fraud and said he wasnt from THE Disney Co and he hung up on me. The next guy got an earful from me about not calling again and he hung up on me mid sentence. ANYONE KNOW WHO THEY ARE AND HOW TO STOP THEM???????????

Ask for the name of their company, the addy and phone number. Ask for the callers name or employee number. Then tell them to put you on their do not call list. (Did you sign up for the national do not call list?). If they call you again within 30 days (I think that is the time span permitted by our Atty Gen'l) contact your state Attorney General. If you already are on the do not call list, collect their info and contact your Atty General to file a complaint.

Thumbs up File A Formal Complaint W/The Attorney General Of The State
Find out the phone number, the addy, or any other pertinent info and file a formal complaint against them with the states attorney generals office in the department of justice!! Let the caller know that is exactly what you are going to do!!

Sounds like they may be doing vacation or timeshare sales. Id be like "Orlando? I LOVE ORLANDO! Are you selling vacation packages or timeshares??? Really? What company? Gosh orlando is great. <listen to speechial> then say id need to talk to hubby can i get a phone number i can call if he is interested????"

Hopefully you'll get enough info to file a complaint. Then contact your phone company to have the callers blocked! and file a formal complaint

GE Capital provides credit card services to a large number of stores, including the Disney Store(not to be confused with the Bank One Disney-branded Visa). Sounds like you're getting solicited for the GECC/Disney credit card. The pause you describe is the delay between their automated dialing system detecting your answering the phone and then your call being transferred to an available agent. Do you buy from the Disney catalog? Might be why they consider you a prospect.
If they call again, do as previously suggested: get a name, a supervisor name, a contact address and ph#, and then request they not call you again. Really show your stuff: ask 'em to send you a copy of their 'do not call' procedures; that's another requirement of the TCPA, the predecessor to the nat'l Do Not Call registry. If they call a second time after you tell 'em to stop (TCPA allows for one 'grace' call after your request), or if they fail to forward their procedures, they're in violation, and it's actionable. I've read reports of individuals taking offenders to small-claims court and getting judgements; $1500 rings memorable as the set figure for breaking this rule.

You have the right to be put on the Do Not Call list of a company (unless you owe them something). Generally it takes at least 30 days to remove your name from the list, and I believe the company has a 30-60 day leeway before you can file a complaint. (sometimes there are multiple list hence the 30-60 day time frame) If you request to be put on the list make sure to listen to the verbage(sp) that they should have to read you and it's a good idea to request a written confirmation that you are on their Do Not Call list. National Do Not Call lists keep you from getting unsolicited calls but if you are a customer of a company they can call you and of course with sweeping if you don't uncheck something you are giving them permission to call.
