Here are a few more that are not specifically listed as vegan or vegetarian, but because of the type of food they are the restaurants shouls be able to accommodate special requests to make meals cruelty free (or allergy free for Churchy):

New Mandarin Chinese Rstrnt

Pho Saigon

For vegans & vegetarians:

Vegans: At the Indian restaurant make sure to specify no yogurt, ghee or paneer in your food. Also avoid fried appetizers as they were probably fried in the same oil as fried paneer. Dishes like dosai, thalis, rice & dahl, utthaphams all incorporate food combining of rice and legumes so they are a complete protein.

Vegans: At Chinese restaurants eat only plain white steamed rice and steamed vegetables. Their woks have had meat cooked in them and they don't clean them between orders. The steamed veggies and rice are the only way to go. Have them add some tofu to the steamed vegetables for protein.

The last two are Vietnamese, so if you're a vegan or vegetarian watch out for fish sauce, shrimp paste (in the curry or panang), and oyster sauce (which is tricky since most oyseter sauce is actually vegan).

I hope this info is helpful to somebody out there besides Jenn & I!

Thanks Jackpot Joe.

Were you able to find out if there will be vegan food (or gluten free food for Churchy).

For a vegan meal if there could even be a salad with no cheese, bacon, or croutons we could bring our own vegan dressing.

I know there are plenty of restaurants in town to get vegan food - just wondering about the Friday lunch and Saturday banquet.

Thanks.

Unless you open a new bottle of salad dressing you have to keep it refrigerated in your room or at home then take a small container of the dressing to the restaurant. I got very sick from eating food that was not refrigerated. I hate paying $3 to $5 a bottle for dressing and throwing it out but the food poisoning is much worse.

Send a PM to Joe as he has sent me the Catering person's email so I can explain my dietary limitations.

Also with Asian restaurants you can sometimes get brown rice. Some Asian restaurants use eggs in their cooking. A major problem for allergy sufferers, vegans and people on special diets is cross contamination. Vegetarians and myself face the problem of battered fish fried in the same oil as the french fries.

With salads you have to be careful of them accidental croutons. Mexican food is good but they sometimes use lard.

Cathy how vegetarian are you? I got some places you might like to try.

If KB will have me I would love to sample the rib joints of the midwest. Ribs, wet wipes, taters, cole slaw, a little dish of ice cream and Churchy be very happy in deed.

My husband and I are thinking about coming to this. I graduated from Davenport West, 1979. We just had our 25th reunion last July.

I just got an email from the local Celiac group and they will help anyone with Celiac who is visiting Moline.

I received a brochure from them and if you need it please feel free to PM me.
There is a restaurant that serves Gluten free pizza. On Saturdays Godfather's serves gluten free hashbrown crust pizza.

I found while watching the 2004 Convention Video lots and lots of people filling out 3x5's and envies during the speeches and other things going on. The host of the DVD even went up to people to find out what they were entering for and to look at their decorated envies and such. They showed people in the lobby on their laptops, was definitely interesting to watch!

Where is it going to be next year? Illinois is too far for me to drive.
How did you bid for it? Who did you bid to? What did you bid?

Why does it cost $59 a night to stay in Moline? Where's Moline? Are there any tourist attractions there? What about stuff for kids? Does Moline have a Six Flags?

My 2006 wins

Year of AMC movies. I haven't enterd much this year.

Next year is Phoenix - the sweep clubs bid to host it at the convention. Moline is part of the Quad Cities on the Iowa/Illinois border made up of Davenport/Bettendorf, IA and Rock Island and Moline, IL. Moline does not have a Six Flags. There are links about the area in this thread:

I am not JackpotJoe but I hope that has helped for now
