We stopped and took a few pics while we were in McAlester.

Our next stop was in Carthage, MO to see the Marlin Perkins statue. We called Mamafairal while we there - I think it was our 3rd time calling to let her know that we'd be even later than we first thought.

We finally arrived in Independence, MO just after 9:30pm and the first thing that was said to us was "Where is Janky?', lol. One of Mamafairals duaghters took Janky to the local Sonic so Janky could earn his dinner for the nite!

Mamafairal bbq'd up some chicken and sausages. She also had a salad, deviled eggs and chips. We didn't stay up too late - I think all the driving and the convention started to catch up to us.

Day 11 - Tuesday Sep 2nd - Independence, MO to home!

Mamafairal made us biscuits and gravy for breakfast and then we headed out to see the Truman house and then the Truman library. It was kind of amazing that former U.S. President lived in the house - it was a lot more un-Presidential that I thought it would be. Both the house and library were really cool. We did stop by the Mormon temple in Independence but we didn't go in because of the lack of time - I also figured they'd have to have a few cleansing ceremonies if I had gone in, lol.

We then said our goodbyes to Mamafairal and headed to Kansas City, Mo to eat lunch at the world famous Arthur Bryants. In all honesty it didn't live up to its reputation - the food was mediocre at best.

We stopped in Des Moines, IA for a few minutes so we could get a pic taken with a giant cow.

We also stopped back in Clear Lake, IA so Janky could apoligize for his crash scene recreation the last time he was there. But as you can see in the pics - he wasn't there to apologize.

Baked dropped me off at my house a little after 1am - my dog and cats were really excited to see me - oh, so were Wendy and Alex!

A few stats -

Number of miles traveled - over 4,000

Number of states traveled thru - 5

Number of days - 11

Number of times pulled over by police/state patrol and number of speeding tickets - ZERO!

Misc thoughts -

Iowa - they've got corn, corn, corn, soybeans, corn, corn and more corn in Iowa!

Missouri - cigarettes are about $1.00 cheaper per pack than MN, IA, OK and TX.

Oklahoma - they've got a lot of 'Drive Friendly' signs along the road in OK, but not many people

paid attention to them. I waved at a lot of people along the way but no one waved back.

They also hate ethanol in OK - I saw lots of signs for 100% REAL gas.

Texas - Most ranches - no matter what the size - have HUGE gates.

I saw a cowboy/rodeo church - I thought it was kinda cool, after the service they can go outside and

ride the bulls.

We didn't see many oil wells - I think we saw no more than a dozen in TX - where are they all?

Baked and I would like to give a big THANKS! to the following -

TheTrollLady (OLSPickedMyNick) for letting us take Janky with us on our road trip.

All those at the convention who came up to us - well actually, up to Janky - so ya'll could get your pics taken with him!

To Sparkle8, CAmom and daughters, Redcup, OULori, MrBike and Kim, MargaritaMama and sons and ShellsOK and daughter for meeting up with us! We had an AWESOME time meeting and chatting with ya'll!

We would also like to give a big shout out and a YEEEEEHAAAAWWWW to Xan and her hubby Brian, KB, Trina and her family, Taz and his hubby Michael, Lulu and her hubby Tom and Mamafairal and her family for letting us invade their houses for a nite. Ya'll ROCK!

Ya'll are the reason that OLS is the bestest website!

Both Baked and I had an AWESOME time on our road trip and we're planning a road trip to the 20th Annual Sweepstakes Convention in Manchester, NH. We will soon start taking reservations for those that want to join us on the road, those that want to meet up with us and those who are willing to let us crash at your place for a nite!

I wanna send a shout out to my new sweeper buddy ROSE!
