I loved Gander Mountain back in the days of their catalogs .. then they sold it all to Cabelas.. never had a local store nearby.

JC Penny is a ghost store. I could not find an employee except at the check-out which was two talking to each other.

Cool
We have a few "high end" department stores here...sometimes, it is tough to find an employee who is not looking at a phone.

We lost Kmart, Shopko, Office Depot and Staples. All four stores next to each other. Talk about a domino affect. Now there's a good six blocks of nothing but huge empty buildings and parking lots. ...it's all pitch black at night now. Something bad's going to happen in this part of town.

We lost a few local long time businesses... all small shops... most blame the fact minimum wages went up and they can't work it out.

Closing all stores but keeping online presence

Should you win one of their sweeps it should be fulfilled

When stores like Penney's and Macy's close their brick and mortar stores, the end result may be less sales online. Unless they plan to open return centers, such as using CVS as a return center. Free returns via common carrier would raise their prices and inconvenience customers who return online items to stores.

Marshalls and TJ Maxx seem to be doing better than
Most. I read 1/4 of malls in US will be closing.
Think most folks shop online. I personally like to go into a store.

We lost 2 old family owned businesses in one day last week. Red Front Supermarket closed down after being in operation since 1924. Jess' Lunch closed down after established in 1922. They both officially closed down Saturday. I don't know if it's good or bad.
