Today is also Run it Up the Flagpole and See if Anyone Salutes Day. I don't feel especially creative today, nor do I have any good ideas at the moment.

I did have a cream puff this morning but, unfortunately, was unable to find Minni di Virgini.

Poor Saint Agatha. I've never heard of, or seen those pastries.

A lot of good singers. We only have albums/cds from two of them - Janis Joplin and Fleetwood Mac.

I would be glad to celebrate the Festival of Sleep Day, since I never seem to get enough sleep. My husband ate all of the Claxton fruit cake, so there is none to toss today.

I am having angel hair pasta for lunch today, so I guess that qualifies for National Spaghetti Day.

In honor of Trivia Day, here are several facts about potatoes:

Thomas Jefferson first introduced French Fries to the White House during his presidency.

Potato Chips were invented by Chef George Crum in Saratoga Springs, NY on August 24, 1853.

Americans consume 30 pounds of potatoes per person per year.

About 1/4 of the potatoes consumed are French Fries

Most people eat some form of potato every day.

Potatoes were first cultivated nearly 5,000-7,000 years ago in Peru. ....contributed by Inez.

Potatoes were not part of the first Thanksgiving. Irish immigrants had not yet brought them to North America.

When Sir Walter Raleigh first brought potatoes to the court of Queen Elizabeth I, there seems to have been a lack of communication. The cooks tossed out the tubers, and boiled the stems and leaves. Everyone who partook became deathly ill and potatoes were banned from the Royal kitchen for a long time! Contributed by a fellow-Gardener-UK

National Potato Chip Day is March 14th

Got a Headache? An old fashioned remedy, was to place sliced, raw potatoes on your forehead.

Most of the nutrients are in the skin of the potato.

Potatoes have more potassium than a banana.

The largest potato ever grown was 18 lb. 3oz.

Over 45 million pounds of potatoes are produed in the U.S. each year.

Thanks for the potato trivia. I was going to do something about spaghetti but thought it could be better to provide some advice on what to do if you win megamillions. Good luck.

More trivia:
Quote:
Stephen Poplawski is credited with inventing the blender in 1922. Poplawski was the first to put spinning blades at the bottom of a container. In 1932, Poplawski, received patents for a machine that would reduce fruits and vegetables to a liquid. You can find blenders in most kitchens in America. They have become an indispensable way to process food and drinks.
I haven't had occasion to use my blender today but do find it a handy device from time to time.

I celebrate National Bird Day every day, by putting out food and water for all the birds, and watching them at my feeders.
