First day of winter was not bad at all here.

It wasn't bad here either.

I wish that I had some date nut bread for breakfast.

I didn't have any either but thought maybe some fruitcake I had could do. Unfortunately, a review of the ingredients revealed there was no dates in it.
Off to the market I went (my, all the stores were bust today) but none of the stores I visited had date nut bread. Time to improvise: I purchased some dates and reason that if I put them between two slices of bread with some peanut butter it'll be Happy National Date Nut Bread Day (or close enough)!

I'm not sure how that would taste, but I guess it is close enough to qualify for the holiday.

You could also have taken some fruitcake, picked out a few cherries and jammed some dates in their place.

IMO PB and dates are fine together.

That's very possible. I had just never thought of that combination.

I never watched the Seinfeld show, but I heard a lot about it, including the holiday of Festivus.

I don't have a festivus pole and wouldn't even know how to shop for one!

I wonder if an artificial pole made of PVC would be acceptable?

I think that would be acceptable. I'm not sure how easy it would be to decorate a PVC pipe.

I and my friends decided to stay with aluminum and stacked up a twelve pack- since a pole should be 'unadorned' each can had to be emptied first.

I assume that the cans weren't emptied into the sink.

That would definitely have been a grievable offense!

I think that chocolate and eggnog are an excellent combo.
