Poor Brussel sprouts. They seem to be the most hated vegetable of all time. Someone once told me that they thought they smelled like feet.

How fast do Brussels sprouts spoil? Should we overnight MRatt's prize?

No need to overnight the prize. The Brussels sprouts will only improve with age.

I agree that some men and women improve with age.

This thread doesn't seem to be very popular lately.

I think my old clothes dryer died today. I went to take the clothes out (mostly towels) and they were wet and cold. The dryer came with the house, it's avocado green, so it must be from the 70's. I don't think there is any sense in having a 30 year old dryer fixed, so I guess we'll have to buy a new one. Meanwhile, I've got towels and clothes hanging from doorknobs and any other usable surface I can find. We don't have a clothes line.

Sorry to hear about the dryer. Have you considered a used dryer? In our local paper, people are giving them away almost weekly. Bought new, and they have to get rid of the old, or moving to another house and don't want to move old appliances. In the meantime, look at the energy you're saving!

I'm all for saving money, but I'm kind of weary of used appliances. I'd rather have something with a guarantee and a warranty. Plus, when the deliverymen bring the new appliance, they take away the old one. We may have some issue with the plug too. Since what we have is so old, the plug may need changing or updating. They worst thing is that the washer and dryer are jammed into a closet, facing each other. Now the washer will have to be unhooked and pushed back against the wall so that we can get the old dryer out and the new one in. This laundry closet was part of an addition that someone put on the house, and they did a very poor job.

When my dryer died I went to the "rent to own" place and asked them if they had any repoed dryers. They were wonderful... called all their stores to find the best one, went and picked it up, brought it to my house and installed it, with new hoses , took the old one- for $50. Sears wanted $50 just to deliver a new appliance. It works great. I was told about this by a friend who's daughter worked at one of these stores...the stuff that comes back after a few month's is amazing and they practically give it away. Good luck.

We will likely be going to Sears in the morning to look at their dryers. If your purchase is over a certain amount, you get the delivery charge back. Hopefully, there will be some good Labor Day sales.
