That's what we did... but to get it over the connector, it was too large to shrink down enough to do any good!

Photo on their site doesn't look any different.. might be just what's on the inside.. he said it doesn't work on the 13" - only the 15 and 17 inch.. while the one at Best Buy worked with all 3. Seemed strange.

I did tell him to tell their designers to make one with a replaceable cable so we could just replace the cable as a plug in instead of the entire adapter...

there's nothing wrong with the power adapter on mine.. just the darn wire... and yes, I could take it apart...splice it.. or do something similar.. I've read where some buy a cord, break open the adapter, and solder it in.. but I wonder just how well that works since again you are dealing with a non- Apple mfg... and will it be wired exactly as apple does with a mag connector that works the same?

I see no changes... the adapter end already had a kink in it from packaging! Just hoping it lasts longer than my computer now!
