Cool Sports package just for college football, is Sling TV best?
I eliminated cable with Comcast which means I no longer have ESPN. That is not a problem until college football starts. Which is coming up soon. What is your advice for something short term (college football season only)?

Sling TV site says $20 month. I already have Netflix and Prime channels. So that seems like overkill.

Is Watch Sports Live any good? Is it really free?

With WatchESPN don't you have to have Xfinity or cable service?

Anyhow, I didn't see a quick answer so figured I would ask the pros here to see if you know the best solution for needing a sports channel for a few months only. I didn't realize Sling was so many channels and $20 a month. That is more than I need but if that is the only way......

I did a search and found some other sites but some seem sketchy. What do you guys use?

I need to see my Ga Tech Yellow Jackets play.

Thanks!

Hmm...so no one uses any free services for sports? or other services rather than just Sling Tv?

I didn't realize that many people used Sling.

I will keep looking and if I find any other alternatives, I will post.

Will do. I am not finding something easily with searches. I will ask around and see if anyone had another solution.

I really don't want to spend $20 month for Sling as I don't need any of the other stuff. I wish they would just have a sports option for less money. Their site says "starting at $20 month"

I found this article but it was basically Sling or Vue (playstation)

This one had some ideas. Conference streams games. College Sports Live (possible option need to investigate more)

Looks like Alabama is ranked #1 pre-season.

I made the switch two years ago using Sling. You college football options are better with Sling. You add the sports package, which includes ESPN, but also included is the WatchESPN app, which lets you watch whatever games you want streaming through your Sling device. (Your Sling membership includes free access to the WatchESPN app).

Hope that helps!

Anymore questions, just hit me up!

BTW, Sling does drag from time-to-time, which has been an issue depending upon the number of uses, but typically on Saturdays I just watch the ESPN app on my Roku Device (which is free with Sling). Watching on ESPN on Sling it can drag from time-to-time, Watch ESPN does not.

I got a free trial of Sling $20 a month and got the free Roku device. and it didn't include any sports that's extra and if I recall it was pretty expensive for all of that. I couldn't even watch it because all it did was buff and buff and buff.

I do live in a rural area but have no problem with Netflix or Amazon Prime. To me the SlingTV was overpriced junk.

The sports package on Sling was $5 or $10 more per month on top of the $20. Worth it to me.

I got rid of Netflix. I had it for over a decade but since they switched to producing more and more of their programming, it has become junk.

Thank you guys for your input on Sling TV. I didn't realize the sports package had a cost on top of the $20. Wow....that is getting very expensive just to watch the games.

Hmm....I will have to think about this.

I finally cut the cord with cable and now this. I am still glad I cut the cord but ugh.

I am going to be sad if I can't watch my Yellow Jackets play.

Next year ESPN will start a Netflix style streaming channel which will include college sports, but until then the best bet is slingTV with the ESPN app.

There is an app for SEC football so might want to see if there is one for ACC. Also you can stream ESPN on your phone with your data package, at least with Sprint you can not sure about the others. Then watch it on TV with your AppleTV box or whatever you use.

Call Sling and talk to a real person about this. That's what I did when I was gifting my son in law.

A friend of my sons always sends him links to the NFL games a few minutes before the start. I asked him how he found them and he replied:

"I usually search Google. There's a site called reddit that has them posted on there."

https://www.reddit.com/search?q=NFL

I asked him about college games specifically "Yellow Jackets" he searched but didn't find anything right off. He was at work so I told him I would pass this info on.

The NFL links don't show up till a few minutes before the games start so maybe it's the same with college games.

At any rate it couldn't hurt to do some googling and see what you can find.

We have a friend who gave us her cable sign-in so we can watch games on appletv. She would never stream stuff online anyway, so we were thankful she shared it with us!

Interesting. That would be a solution for me since ESPN is king for college football. I will keep an eye out for that next year.

Thanks.

I did a search on Reddit for georgia tech football and old threads came up. The season hasn't started so there won't be any new ones.

I wouldn't have thought of reddit for that but it is an idea. Thanks.
