104...then a huge monsoon storm with a wall of dirt hit us, followed by rain/hail, and a temp drop to 72 degrees.

I lived in the high desert of California for about a year and a half when I was in the USAF. It was tough sometimes, but it was great for riding my motorcycles.

It is so humid that one becomes sticky immediately upon opening the door here.

It's very dry here and my plants are drooping. It's a chore to water everything.

Beautiful this morning having breakfast on the deck.

Gotta go drag 100 feet of hose out to try to save the new grass I planted though. Brown is not good in new grass.

A little after I posted, we had a thunderstorm and a lot of rain. It was heavy rain, which isn't the best since it might run off, but at least I didn't have to water. There must have been some kind of wind sheer in the storm. All of a sudden there was a loud noise. A large (live) limb was thrown into our driveway, just missing the car. It did brush by the awning outside our screen porch. And a bird feeder that is hanging from the awning was swinging. It was from the large poplar tree that is just a few feet from the back of our house at the end of the driveway. I love the tree for the shade, but it worries me that it's so close to the house. Our next door neighbor had a large oak tree limb sheered off .

We had some more rain this morning. Maybe it will head your way.

It's been extremely dry here and my plants have suffered. My husband couldn't keep up with all the watering that needed to be done after my surgery. I'm sure that we will be getting hurricane rain. It's supposed to start here Saturday night.

It looks like our area came through the storm pretty much unscathed. There are some trees downed according to the news, but none that I know of near me, and we never lost power. The rain and wind was less than first forecast. It looks like North Carolina really took the brunt of the storm.
