My power went out a little after 3 pm yesterday, and just came back on. I was hoping we would be spared, since I've already had 2 outages the last couple of months.

My husband went and got us some Chinese take out for supper, so at least we had some hot food. The power company knew where the problem was for the neighborhood, but they couldn't do any work due to the high winds, so they had to wait until this morning to start the work.

My bunnies couldn't understand why it was dark in the house - we just had one battery operated lantern, then they couldn't understand why they didn't get any greens like they usually do late in the afternoon, then at bedtime. I didn't want to open the fridge. I did go out in the rain to pick them a few pieces of parsley that were left in the garden, but that didn't satisfy them.

We ended up going to bed at 9:30, way earlier than our usual bedtime. We were chilly, since it's been oddly cool the last few days and we had to turn our heat on on Saturday. So, instead of sitting around in the dark, feeling chilly, we just got in bed. I kept my clothes on in case a tree fell on the house or some other emergency.

I'm so glad the power is back on. I know that there are people with no power and badly damaged homes in the south, so we really got off pretty easily. Just some discomfort for about 21 hours, and some limbs down in the yard.

Fall has arrived here. High 70s during the day and dipping down into the 40s at night.

Glad to hear you are okay, cb. I was thinking about you.

The last dregs passed by here last night and this morning. Just a little rain.

Those storms in the South make me glad to shovel a little snow from time to time.

I'm glad that neither of you had any effects from the storm.

There are a lot of trees downed around the area. There are still some people without power. One tree fell on a person driving an SUV a few miles from my house, and they were trapped for almost an hour. That would have been scary. Another person in a nearby town was killed by a falling limb in their yard. There were a few other storm fatalities in SC, mostly from wrecks during the storm and one from carbon monoxide poisoning by running a generator in the house, which I know should not be done. One of the coastal areas, Edisto Beach, had replenished their sand last fall after Hurricane Matthew did a number on it. Now that sand is sitting in their streets.

I hope that the rest of 2017 will be free from any more major storms.

Now the trees are all groaning in growling, rough gales
That with thuds and hoarse roaring roll raging around!
Such leaf-rousing, branch-ruining, ripping, raw wails,
Such a terrible, thrashing and tree-wrecking sound!

America: Love it or give it back.

It's a cloudy, gloomy, wet and cool day out there today, and it feels chilly in the house.

We are supposed to have a freeze tomorrow night. I'm trying to decide if I want to go to the trouble of taking several pots of flowers down to the basement to save them, or just let them go ahead and get killed, since I have pansies to plant in their place. So many of my pots of annuals are still blooming so nicely.

Sun's shining right now - but that snow is not going anywhere yet! There's not much, though, so hopefully it will be gone soon.

Sun is good! Yesterday was a crappy day here, cloudy, drizzly and cool, but today we have sunshine and it's warmer.

It's a beautiful 70 degrees this morning, but will heat up to 86 later today.
