I can't prove it, but I suspect there are a lot of cheaters on UpViral giveaways.

In other words, I don't think they are fair.

Anyone have any thoughts on these?

No, I don't think it's fair, or very well regulated, on either side.
It's all about getting that precious email addy.
I really miss the old days, when viral was a dirty word...
Once, brand recognition and good will was the point of most sweeps,
not viral marketing and sales...

I stopped worrying about referral entries once I did the math. If you are given one extra entry for each referral, you're only causing more work for yourself, because your referral's entry cancels out your extra entry. If they are giving more than one entry per referral, make sure there aren't as many optional entries causing them to cancel out. For example, if you get 10 extra entry per referral, but there are 10 entries total per giveaway (including optional entries), then you're simply wasting your time again. All ten of your extra entries will be cancelled out by the person you referred, assuming they also did all optional entries.
