No, technically, your premium membership here is paying for a "service" that is being offered. That "service" is providing a warehouse/directory of sweepstakes you may or may not choose to enter.

As to your original post - there are federal, state, and city laws/ordinances that govern "gambling".

True but I think the problem is software, which businesses choose to employ, that filters out certain words and phrases (for whatever reason). Perhaps they don't even know that such innocuous sites as OLS are being screened out.

Okay, so I just stopped at a Giant supermarket and logged into their WIFI network but was denied access to OLS because, in their opinion, it is a "gambling" site.
Two miles down the road I have no problem getting onto OLS at a local brewbub/restaurant. State and local laws are not the issue here.
Again, something about how OLS is seen by search engines causes it to seem offensive though no actual gambling is done on this site.

...so I am more likely to choose Weis Markets because my access to OLS is not censored at that venue.

Actually, I think my luck in a casino might be better than the odds of winning the sweeps I enter.

Santa and all related websites are very popular this time of year but what are the odds that he'll actually deliver?

My sweeps wins outweigh lottery or other gambling winnings this past year, and it cost less.

Giant stores still deny access to OLS as of today. Public libraries also tend to impose restrictions but I can't think of any other major chain that has this policy. Does anyone else know of some?

Question
I am still wondering why OLS is considered a "gambling site".

OLS is NOT a gambling site; those who are figuring reasons to say why it is are just plain wrong. I don't pretend to be a computer expert, so I can't explain the mysteries of how it gets labeled as such and blocked in certain places.

Just yesterday, I went to visit OLS at one of my workplace computers, which I have been doing for months, about once a week to check the forums, when I got that message that "someone" had blocked the site for being "gambling.". I will just look at OLS at home; no problem.

I'm sure it was their IT people--what they do is also a mystery to me. I have lots of problems getting my software, files, and internet to work there, due to all their "security" levels. Aargh.

I use a desktop PC for entering sweeps but like to check into the forums from time to time while on the road. IMO OLS forums are less of a gamble than other social media sites. I feel much safer on OLS than sites such as FB.

My guess is that OLS is flagged because of the frequent use of the word "WIN" which is also used on gambling sites.

That's a good guess but, if the word 'win' was being blocked, wouldn't most sports sites also be filtered out? I doubt sports fans would accept such terms.

Thumbs up
Gambling legalized! Better mobile access to OLS could be in the near future!
