Smile Quick Corner Re-do
Before, lonely corner in my Dining Room:

After, just something to make me smile...and a little GIRLY, too, which is nice, since I am the only gal in the house:

I totally got this idea from that Nesting blog site that you gave us, EAF! She has round tables all over her house with tablecloths and I just loved them...so I got my thinking cap on and went to work...I had most of the stuff, including the table, which was in my basement just collecting dust...my dh was happy to see that I put it to use (and got something OUT of the basement...a project we keep putting off...)

What I also love about this, not only can I look at it everyday and smile, but I can change it with the seasons and holidays. Right now all I have is the mantle in our Family Room, which is really just a glorified Mud Room (we enter that room from the garage and never hang out in there)...so this way I can actually ENJOY my little table and the things I put out on it....and when we entertain, I can use it to put food on....totally cool!!! Thanks, EAF!!!

Pretty boxes for papers....
I don't know if you can see them...but in the back on that table are 3 decorative boxes...in 3 different sizes, sitting on top of each other. I got them at Michael's, they have lots of different colors and patterns...anyhow...you know what I keep in them? Receipts and mail that I don't feel like dealing with right now...it's a tidy way to clean up that paper clutter...which was driving me crazy!!!

Covergerl, that litterbox planter is too cool! What a clever idea.

Tarah, I LOVE the desk you posted!
Faygo that bench with the filing cabinets built in to it is great too.
Also love the round table you put in one of your corners and all the girlie things you added to it. Glad you like the nesting place blog and got some nifty ideas from it.

Got one light fixture painted. Whoever posted that brushed nickel spray paint would look good was right.
Too bad I only had a hammered brownish color on hand. Doesnt look too shabby, granted it could not look any worse than it already was.
I'll post before and after pics once I figure out where that "safe place" is that I put the cable for the camera.

If life hands you melons.... you might be dyslexic.

I have an excellent place in Chicago...are you near here?

Maybe not the prettiest of the bunch, but it matches the desk, has a green cushion and 3 FILE CABINETS
Thanks for the ideas. I looked at homedecorators the other day and saw one I liked in a green color, but I am having hard time committing. That is by biggest design issue! I like to change my mind so much with different styles and am constantly redoing things. There is just too much I like!

I think I am going to end up going with one from Crate and Barrel. My DH said he liked it and for him to mention something like that is shocking!

There was just a great article about this in Redbook (I think that's where I read it).

They were showing all different ideas of how to make fabric wall hangings. Here's another website for it:

I wish! Sorry, no...I actually bought this pretty fabric on ebay, it came today, I love it:

Thanks PGriff and Tara for the new links, too

PS: LOL, I didn't put that crayon there...the seller does that in her photos, I guess to give you an idea of the color of the fabric.

Question
What do you call that red thing on the floor by the fireplace? And where would I get one? lol I asked her on her blog, but she has not replied....plus she just moved, so I don't want to ask her again, I am sure she is busy.

I have no idea what that is but the top reminds me of one of the pieces from the game Sorry. I wonder if it is formal fireplace decor or just some time of pot or statue.

it's called a finial - Google (image)it but they come in wood concrete metal plastic glass ceramic - it a decorative embellishment for a roof or a porch. you can find them at salvage (yards)stores some at home depot - at the garden shops that have all the statues and arbors.
