Hot spot question..
I am going slightly bonkers trying to figure out what device/company to use to have an unlimited wifi hot spot in our home. I am not interested in landline etc nor do I want tethering from my phone. Am going to purchase outright so I'm not under contract as well..

The Verizon jetpack seems like the best bet and I have read that it can be used with other companies.
Anyone do this with success? Any advice on companies/plans etc?

I just use the hotspot on my phone that is covered by my normal Verizon plan. I don't know about jetpack. I will move this to the computer forum so more people will see it. Hopefully someone there has advice.

Unless they've changed it, it uses your data, and that is no longer unlimited. Maybe someone who knows more than I do can help. When I got mine from a really NOT Verizon store, they claimed it was unlimited and oh so great. It was not. I called the REAL Verizon, and they made me an accomoatiion, but I was stuck with the damn thing for 2 years. A waste.

We have a Verizon jetpack mifi. We have an unlimited data plan that we share between our phones and the hot spot. The hot spot has a data limit of 15 GB and once you hit that they slow you down to molasses type speed so even though it is "unlimited" it isn't. I was told that after the 15 GB is used you can then tether your phone and use another 15 GB but while it is tethered you can't receive calls or do anything else with your phone.

I am on an unlimited data plan (Verizon) which has 3 phones. 1 of the phones is connected to the computer and tethered. The electricity from the computer charges the phone. Nothing is Wi-Fi. I am on the computer day & night. I have plenty of speed. I don't notice the difference between this and the high speed AT@T internet I used to have before I cut the cord.

Thank you all for your help, seems they really are not unlimited after reading all the small print *sigh* We are in the sticks so I guess I have to just go with Xfinity..can't handle sweeping with slow/dropping connections
Sorry the "hot spot" wording wasn't anything more exciting
