I would definitely use a unique password here, because the data going to the server is unencrypted (or plain text).

So basically the site is operating the same as it had in the past, just now it's being called-out for it.

Https means that each page is is secure and encrypted.

This site has not met that standard, thus Google and other search engine and browser providers identify this site as not being a completely secure site. This is a programming and maintenance issue with this site and should have been addressed a long time ago.

Hope that helps.

I have never gotten a message but I know from looking at the URL. If the address doesn't have https: in from of it it is not secure. It might have http without the "s" that isn't secure either.

Yes it seems if there is an issue to trash the site over some people want to jump on it and ride it for all it's worth.

If 2 threads ever should be deleted it's the 2 newest ones on this subject.

Don't worry Rokki I don't use the same password here as I use for my bank.

The only information OLS collects when you sign up is: D.O.B.> username >password>email.

Just wanted to alert the powers that be. This may be a result of whatever it is that's going on but my question is, Is it still safe to enter via the site while not secure?

Here's some info on the subject. This is about Chrome/google trying to force all websites to be secure including all pages within the site.

It’s as safe as it has always been. Your browser decided that they’ll alert you whenever a site is not https. Important if your putting in credit card numbers, personal info, etc but not important at all for what this site does.

It's been like that for years. Just don't have a signin or password you use at "important" sites.

Concerned about what?

You aren't required to enter anything but email and password for this site.

You click links to go to other sites, which may or may not be secured, but you don't enter social security or credit card info on OLS, so why does it need to be secured?

You are on a sweepstakes site, where you will click links to 100s of other sites and give them every piece of info required, DOB, address, etc, and not worry about that, but you are "concerned" about OLS????

Website not secure?
Looking to get back into sweeping and came to renew my membership but noticed that the site isn't secure. Not sure how that affects anything but was just worried about entering my Paypal info. So anyone know a reason why it isn't secure?

read here before renewing:

The website not secure issue is, I believe, really a Chrome/ browser issue. They are wanting websites to encrypt all pages within any given website, not just the pages that transfer sensitive info, such as payment/financial info.

It's a caution warning not a problem found warning. They are reminding you that the site is http: NOT https: and as such you should be careful about which info that you are giving to the site. This is really nothing to worry about (IMHO) just be aware of it.
