I thought solar eclipses happened during the day. It seems like 7 pm would be kind of late, but I'm no scientist.

Today's holidays:

Middle Name Pride Day

Popcorn Lover's Day

Both are applicable to me. I was called by my middle name and I have always loved popcorn and eaten it as an afternoon snack.

The eclipse was in Indonesia which is several time zones away from EST.

Enjoy popcorn day:

Okay, that makes more sense that it was in a different time zone. I clicked on your link and briefly read about the eclipse, but I missed the part about it being in a different part of the world.

Thanks for the popcorn recipe ideas.

If this is World Sleep Day, I sure didn't celebrate it well.

Today is also:

Johnny Appleseed Day http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreh...pleseedday.htm. We should celebrate by having some homemade apple pie today, and some vanilla ice cream would go well with that.

Worship of Tools Day http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreh...iptoolsday.htm. I think I'll skip that celebration.

Pumpkin Dutch Apple Pie
Speaking of apple pie, this is IMHO the best ever (I may have posted this before but it is worth repeating):

Note: calls for green apples but we always look forward to jonagolds in season.

That pie sounds really good! It would be nice for Thanksgiving, especially for those who can't decide if they want to have an apple pie or a pumpkin pie.

Today is:

Girl Scouts Day

Plant a Flower Day

I was a Girl Scout and I love to plant flowers, so this is a good day for me. Now I want cookies.

To my dismay, the girl scouts did not accept me.

I do enjoy seeing flowers come into bloom this time of year.

Today is also the Aztec New Year. After the scare with the Mayan Calendar a few years ago, I am glad to see that we still have reasons to celebrate (and I am keeping my 2013 Mayan Calendar in hopes that it will someday become a valuable collectible).

Did you ever think of trying the Boy Scouts?

I reluctantly sprang forward.

Today is:

Ear Muff Day http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreh...earmuffday.htm. You sure don't need those around here now with the warm weather we've been having.

Jewel Day http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreh...h/jewelday.htm. I don't care much about jewelry and hardly ever wear any, so I'll pass on this holiday too.
