I couldn't get the $109 rate on line with SWEP or SWEEP but I had no problems using the
800 233-1234 number.

Yeah online was a disaster. Just booked our room through the 800 number at the "SWEP" rates. Woo hoo!

We're coupon junky's and know how to get everything for less. So, just to throw this out there. Did you know that you can get 50% off of the room rack rate for selected hotels through www.entertainment.com (most for Sunday through Thursday) not to mention 1,000's of other coupons and deals.

Also, if you go to www.retaurant.com you can find restaurants in the area and purchase certificates for that/those restaurant(s); i.e. $10.00 for a $25.00 certificate. Here's a 60% off code good until tomorrow: 12934

If you sign up at their site, they will email these percent off codes to you.

Whenever, we travel somewhere, we print some up for local restaurants. I also research out any printable coupon, etc., for fast food, chain, etc., restaurants. I pretty much research for any deals that I can get in the area that we would be interested in. They're out there (tons of them) if you look.

Did you use a credit card to pay for your stay in advance, or did you use a credit card to simply hold your room, without being charged? My room is being held with my credit card, but I was told it would not be charged...unless I failed to cancel within the alloted time frame.

The credit card is just to hold the room, they can't charge you for it a year in advance. If you need to cancel, you just need to give them 24 hours notice.

Wow! San Antonio! Cool!

A word of advice, if you get the convention somewhere close to the northeast side (that's the cleanest and safest side of town), there is also killer horse racing track and verizon ampitheatre and a whole mess of great eat places, new movie theatre, mamma's cafe, outback steak house, nice local clubs and a huge shiny and new VERY big forum center to shop at that has everything and all the best stores.

Oh, and I forgot too add, there a newly built Hyatt or some other top line hotel that just got finished being built out that way by the horse track, I've been trying to find out which one it is. They just finished it in January '06. If I can find out which one it is ( I know it is set up for conventions) I'll post back. Dh and I have been trying to find it to go for a few nights get away, since we love staying at new clean hotels.

There are many hotels in the area. The Ford HQ is located nearby and that immediate area caters to business guests. There is also a Holiday Inn-Fairlane in Dearborn. There is a Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, and Best Value Inn. I would search hotels in Dearborn, MI online, then maybe check mapquest to see how far a particular hotel is to the convention.

Mah additions
