According to Glen Beck , who was on O last night, it is the beginning of the end. Anarchy, riots, the death of America! Pretty soon we will have a police state and a new government. He sure did some crazy talk last night.

This has now even spread to China. Granted it is still small there. But, the people are laying their lives on the line to do this, literally.
The problem with Beck is he tried to do a character like Colbert does. He couldn't do it. He couldn't seperate himself, and he actually believes what he says now.

I agree, but because of him , I need to be very scared of my two Marxist daughters. They attend that evil place---a University. Yikes. I better run to the hills now before they infect me with their evil learnings.

Which ones? Some do, some don't. They're not really a monolithic group. It seems like a movement that's about protesting just about anything and everything. It's mostly about major corporations, but it's varied. I'm all for taxing corporations more, regulating them more, and letting them influence Washington less through lobbying and campaign financing. I'm NOT for the sense of entitlement some of them have, who think they have a right to healthcare, free college, etc.

does this represent you:

... The goal ... is very, very clear. It can be articulated in one word—REBELLION. These protesters have not come to work within the system. They are not pleading with Congress for electoral reform. They know electoral politics is a farce and have found another way to be heard and exercise power. They have no faith, nor should they, in the political system or the two major political parties. They know the press will not amplify their voices, and so they created a press of their own. They know the economy serves the oligarchs, so they formed their own communal system. This movement is an effort to take our country back.

This is a goal the power elite cannot comprehend. They cannot envision a day when they will not be in charge of our lives. The elites believe, and seek to make us believe, that globalization and unfettered capitalism are natural law, some kind of permanent and eternal dynamic that can never be altered. What the elites fail to realize is that rebellion will not stop until the corporate state is extinguished. It will not stop until there is an end to the corporate abuse of the poor, the working class, the elderly, the sick, children, those being slaughtered in our imperial wars and tortured in our black sites. It will not stop until foreclosures and bank repossessions stop. It will not stop until students no longer have to go into debt to be educated, and families no longer have to plunge into bankruptcy to pay medical bills. It will not stop until the corporate destruction of the ecosystem stops, and our relationships with each other and the planet are radically reconfigured. And that is why the elites, and the rotted and degenerate system of corporate power they sustain, are in trouble. That is why they keep asking what the demands are. They don’t understand what is happening. They are deaf, dumb and blind. ...

The Tea Partiers were an astro-turfed expression of hollow patriotism with no real goal besides adding politicians of a certain persuasion into the failing structure. How could they understand what's happening now. It's organic, instead of manipulated. They might be good at being used, but they certainly can't see the big picture.

No doubt, there are many that are hurting in these tough economic times, but I believe the majority of Americans wouldn't want to be represented by what appears to be a misguided group of people.

I have to step in here. The supposed car crap incident...well it never happened. I love you right wingers so much...basic logic out the window....

In the photo, it's clear as a bell the car is marked the 81st precinct. The 81st precinct is in Brooklyn, specifically a particularly unsafe neighborhood in Brooklyn called Bed Stuy. Google it, it's far more likely that was a crack head than a protestor that left wall street, took the train into Brooklyn, then came back to protest.

The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare. Not to be confused with Hundredth monkey effect.

OMG! Yes, you must step in!

Although I'm amused by your desire for a confrontation (basic logic out the window, and all.), I won't bite.

I also would prefer to be addressed as a Conservative, or a Republican. Not a right winger. What shall I call you?

You could call her a dem, a lib, a socialist, a communist, a Marxist, an idiot, a jobless freeloader, an Obama worshipper, or a person who wants to destroy America. That's what the other "Conservatives or Republicans" around here call her.

The one that always strikes me as amusing is "Obamabot" which fits absolutely no one in these forums, but is used with some regularity.

'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?' "Then He will answer them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' Matthew 25:44-45

Well considering that's the second reference I've seen you post to the incident...yes I must step in since it's wildly incorrect but a nicely crafted smear against the protesters. Apologies if wanting to discuss actual facts disturbs you.

I would be happy to address you as a "Conservative or a Republican" when you refrain from posting inaccurate right wing smears. I think that's pretty fair.

And feel free to use any of the monikers that eskhaton posted even though most of them are incorrect, I'm used to being called any of them by the upstanding "Conservatives" on this board.

I'm sorry you did not percieve from the tone of my discussion that nothing I posted is a smear. I answered the poll honestly.

Actual facts are not what you offer in your comments. I'm not from NY City, but surely they draw reinforcements for major events from wherever the resources are available. I don't feel the need to call them to verify this.

Fairness is based on respect. In the interest of intelligent, civil discourse I choose not to call you anything.

I admit that I haven't read every post in this thread, but I'm lost here.

What photo?

Anyone care to post a link, please?

Nor is it in yours. since you are unable to verify whether the incident really happened as you claimed

As well the photo you posted.

There is no proof it had anything to do with the protests or not.
