Ok I have been the you won the UK lottery.

Somebody died and left me some money.

I have a wonderful business opportunity.

But Friday I received an email with a hit on my life. It was extortion. They wanted 3k to call off the hit and another 3K when I picked up our recorded conversation.

Said not to call the police.

Well I was livid, hot and mad. What if this had been an old lady they would have been scared out of their wits.

I let my daughter read it and she went over to her computer and looked up the email. addy.

How about this one?
I got a call from "Prize Distribution Center saying I entered the "Grand Sweepstakes Giveaway" and now that it has closed I won something. Call 800-821-2670. Top prize is a Lincoln Navigator. Surfed the net and only found a little about this "sweeps".

2 weeks ago I got a call and talked to someone about another like this, I think, but said an email would come with all the info I need along with the confirmation # given to me and 2 ID's. Nothing on this one , so I was wondering if anyone else has gotten a call on the " Grand Sweepstakes Giveaway"! Oh ya, I entered it when I was doing some SURVEY, I think!!

Chef's Diet.com
Posted this under vents and then found this thread so here goes:

Got a message on my answering machine saying that I won in the chef's diet 2008 New Year's Resolution contest and I needed to call a 1-800 number to claim the prize by January 22. I called the number and it connected me to the sales department. They launched into sales for the plan. I told them that I gave no permission to call me for sales and to take me off their list. They said that they had no list. Yeah right! Shame on them!!!!

Is this a scam?
Does anyone know if this is a scam?

I received a letter from
DYNCORP POWER FINANCIAL
Group of Publishers Sweepstakes
9800 Mulbeery Rd, Keowna, B C, V4t 2H9

It claims that I am a winner of $75,000. It states, "In order for you to be able to claim your prize there are fees of a calculated aount of $2960. Enclosed is a check payable to you in the above amount. Please before cashing your check, you have to call to confirm that you have received the letter with the enclosed eck. An amount representing 10% will be deducted from your cash prize to repay the fees."

There is a reference number and bar code on the letter. I called the number and I was told to deposit the check and call again letting them know how long the bank would hold the check. Then, they said I should make a money gram for the amount of $2840 and send to them to cover the fees. After doing so, UPS would deliver the check for the amount won along with tax papers, etc.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is this a scam?

WARNING!! US Telesource Corporation
just got this on another forum & wanted to pass it on here...

"received via Federal Express a check for $3700.00 from US
Telesource Corporation.Since my husband and I enter alot of sweeps we
were a little excited but yet unsure so we took the check to our bank.
They said they would put it on an 11 day hold and if it was good then
we would be $3700.00 richer but if it was a scam no one could get any
info from our account. The check was written on US Bank in
Ladera,CA.only on the check the city was mispelled there were also
several other mistakes that our bank noticed also.Well I called US Bank
in Ca and asked them about the company and was quickly told it was a
scam and not to cash the check. They said they had received many calls
over the past several days and to turn it over to our local police
dept. which we did.
I wanted to let everyone know about this in case anyone received
anything from this company. It amazed me that they sent this Federal
Express and with a tracking number no less but I guess by the time
anyone could track them to that address they wouldn't be around.
Hope this information goes out to everyone and please tell everyone you
can hopefully by sharing this information we can stop the scammers."

*note* I didn't get the check so I don't know much else except if I do recieve a 'big win' from anyone, I won't just deposit it blindly! Take all cash wins inside and talk to the tellers!
