Exclamation Instant Win Tips
I used to design Sweepstakes and Instant Win games for fastfreefun.com (a division of Excite.com) before we went bankrupt...and I have a few tips for you.

Number 1:
With an instant win game, the larger prizes are typically set to be given out in the last quarter of the game. For example, if the game was to last 4 months, the big ticket items usually will be given away in the last month.

Number 2:
It typically doesn't matter what time of day you play the ticket. Time is usually not a factor in the way winners are disbursed. Our rules stated that there were 1,000,000 tickets available, and before the game started, we would decide that the 854,324th ticket would be the big winner. So that ticket could be given out on any day at any time, but only after the 854,323rd ticket was handed out first.

Number 3:
When you click the button to get your ticket, or you click on the handle of the slot machine, the website decides if you will win something immediately. So, once you get that ticket, there is no need or advantage in scratching something off a certain way or waiting 10 seconds before you "pull the handle".

Hope this helps some of you. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tips Kurt!! Wow... that is the most definative description I have ever heard about how some of those instant wins work! Too bad you weren't around when FFF was still around... we could have done a "Martha Stewart" or something for some of those prizes! LOL

Are you entering now yourself... or just visiting us here for a bit?

I hope you are entering and I hope you have lots of great wins yourself!

Katie

I checked out your web site.. I love the graphic you used on the main page!!! Good luck with that venture as well!

Question for Kurt
Was all the money/prizes always given out? You don't always see a winners list and I sometimes wonder if the big bucks are really awarded, especially if say the 300,001st person doesn't play. Just curious.
Thanks.

Good question. While the company was in business, we gave away everything that we advertised which included porche's, world trips, $100,000, etc. Sometimes we had problems convincing the winners that they had actually won. That's why you should always enter the Second Chance part of a sweepstakes. We awarded grand prizes to many second chance entrants because the actual winner was uncooperative.

However, when we went bankrupt (along with Excite@Home) the contests that were running were not finished and prizes were not granted. That sucked big time.

And to the poster who asked if I enter sweepstakes, I sure do. Every day. Have I ever won anything? Nope, but I will...I will.

Thanks! I have always wondered about the time of day making a difference. I usually enter sweeps at night (PST) and have always thought that if it was an east coast sweep, the daily prizes were probably already given away. Makes me feel better knowing!!

Kurt,

Thanks for your post. It is so rare to have advice right from the horse's mouth (so to speak.) How did you happen to find your way to this lovely village? (And welcome!)
