Yes, it does!

This is the first year since I've lived in VA that I simply went to my polling place and voted. I normally work as an election officer or assistant chief election officer. The presidential election last year just about killed me, so I took a year off. I'll get back to it next year, though! It's amazing to see and be a part of the process. :)

Voting is not only an incredible privilege, it is also a responsibility that each of us share. We are the backbone of our country.

With the exception of one election (which was cancelled), I've voted on every election day since I was 18.

When I think about the sacrifices others have made -- and continue to make -- so that we have the freedom to vote for the candidates of our choice, I'm humbled and grateful.

IMHO, the best way to honor those men and women is to preserve our freedom by voting.

I registered to vote as soon as I turned 18 and always feel good about taking part and voting.

The county I live in switched to all mail in ballots a couple or so years ago and I miss going to the polls and voting! In fact I never mail in my ballot ... I take it to city hall on election days and turn it in in person. (and I still get my 'I voted' sticker that way, lol)

I think mail in balloting doesn't help in the lack of interest in young people. While it makes it easy for some to vote they don't see all the people turning out at schools etc. on election days to vote. I actually enjoyed standing in line to vote, it always was nice to meet others in the area I didn't know or catch up with neighbors etc.

I went today and took took my 11 year old who was home with me today. He was so impressed by the process and even hit the Vote! button for me.

I am trying to educate my still pretty young children in our history and the voting process. They were also with me during the primary as well. Good teaching moments there!

I want them to care and feel a part of something bigger......
