Firefox memory leak a new tamer
redfantum posted this, about an experimental Firefox add-in in another thread:

"Found this addon (AFOM):

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11922

that works for Windows including 7 to fix memory leak in FF.

My usage had peaked at over a million K!!!! Now I'm riding about 60,000. 200,000 under a full load."

I'm on Windows XP and AFOM along with Minimem surely has cracked the whip on Firefox memory usage. Even with multiple windows open I'm ranging 30 to 60K where before I would be up 200 - 300K.

Thanks redfantum

Thumbs up Yeah my friend you would think that mozilla would wake up..
But alas even with all the complaints put in there face over the yrs
we still have to use third party software to tame the memory usuage.
Good looking out..

Ooooh, I was so looking forward to downloading this addon because I'm leaking memory like crazy in FF.

But I got this error:
Firefox could not install the file at

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...2.0-fx-win.xpi

because: Not a valid install package
-207

Any insight from the gurus?
Thanks!

Click the box that says something to the effect of "I agree to install this experimental add-on" and it will work.

Unfortunately, this add-on hasn't helped me, though.

ETA: Thank you so much for finding and sharing it, redfantum.

Thank you so much for this addon. I have already finished my dailies for today but I tested it out by opening 100 tabs and everyone of them filled. I have been having problems and couldn't open more than 10 or so at a time. I opened task manager and looked to see how much FF was using and it was only about 175,000K with all those tabs open. Also, it only took about 8 minutes for all those forms to be ready. I can go back to sweeping like I used to.

Thanks again!

Ooops, thought I had checked that little box....thanks!

Wow, I just shazam'd and I've gone from the usual 800,000k or so usage before this download, to 75,000k-95,000k usage.

Thanks for this link!

What a great find!! Thanks so much. Firefox starts up at 30k and stays at a steady 135k after 1 hour with 50 windows open! It used to peak at 800k or more before. You're my hero, Red!

Is it just me, or have others found this to be a problem. I added this add on. Then when I tried to copy and paste, it didn't work. It seems I was copying, but when I opened a new window to paste, it didn't work. I disabled that add on and then copy and paste works again.
