Will the new version of the site be WONDERFUL? Probably, but I'm thankful that the CURRENT site is a good as it is... thanks to OLS I've been to Australia, Hawaii, and the Super Bowl, and I am scheduled to go to Curacao and the Pro Bowl in the next few months.

So THANKS BRENT (and your "helpers") for Today's OLS, and thanks for striving to improve it!
I am a software developer, by trade.
I have had no complaints about how this website works.
I like it.
I'm a paid member and have been for a while.
I will continue to be exactly that.
New version of the site or not.

I'm not freaking out or upset that there is not yet a new version of this website.

That being said, the one rule I hold to heart about software development is to never promise something and not deliver.

Under promise and over deliver. That makes customers happy.
Over promising and under delivering drives customers away.

We have seen several promised deadlines come and go. At times we have waited long after a promised date to receive any news regarding the update.

Brent, please. Take your time. Test properly. Wait until everything is fully tested and works properly before releasing any new versions....

But for God's sake, please take down any promised delivery dates.

Believe me when I say that I understand working under deadlines and issues not under your control. That is my life.

Stop promising things that you might not be able to deliver.

Many of us (I'm guessing that part) would be fine with whatever time line it takes, but the broken promises sting.

Just do what you need to do and surprise us when it's ready.

I totally agree retrobruce.
I love OLS the way it is.
I'm excited and thankful for any future upgrades.
But I don't appreciate the empty promises. It makes you look bad and untrustworthy. I don't give my money to people like that. My membership expires in a few days and I hope no one gifts me...and I don't plan to renew until I see the upgrades or the owner stops promising something without delivering.

agreed great site and everything. but my hearts been broken counless times because of getting excited about the upgrades. I gave up hope and now with this new demo that came out a few months ago and a couple deadlines passing after that thought it would have been out.

also will be upgrading when that comes out.
thanks for all your hard work.
real excited

I am still getting prizes in the mail weekly and am awaiting a big prize sometime in November, so site different or sit the same, my main objective is to win and that is what I am doing. Im grateful for that alone....
Keep up the great work Brent........

I love OLS, I have only 2 complaints, I have been asking for a few years, a way of blacklisting sweeps I have no interest in, or I don't qualify for. Also too many notes have been deleted, even many that are very helpful. I can understand they need to clean up, people saying, I would love to win, or my kids would love that.

I really don't understand all the hoopla over any of this.

Has OLS become a site that you can't sweep on?

I've been a member here for almost 7 years now and the site is still the best site for sweeping on the net...... by far. We have the hardest working editors that anyone could possibly ask for and a webmaster that has even thought about raising the membership prices since he started them.

Granted, upgrades have been promised and not kept..... but how exactly does that impede your ability to enter all the great sweeps that OLS offers?

I feel sorry for those that state 'Well.... I'm not going to renew my premium membership due to the upgrade not happening'. You're not hurting anyone but yourselves by limiting the amount of sweeps/forums that you'll have access to on OLS. You won't be hurting Brent. For every member that does not renew their membership..... there are at least 5 new members that go premium (I'm guessing at the numbers but I'm seeing a lot of new members going green upon joining OLS).

For those that have been here any significant amount of time, you know the dealio...... it'll happen when it happens.

As for me, my premium membership is set to expire next month and I'll be paying that $30 for another year of being premium here at OLS without a minute of hesitation.

I agree with you glo as long as the site is working and I can get my sweeps done, the upgrades will just be a bonus when they do get here.

As far as Brent making deadlines and then nothing happening on those days it doesn't really bother me, that just seems to be the way he is and the way he chooses to run HIS business. One thing I have learned is just accept people the way they are and don't try to mold them into something you think they should be.

Has anybody died or been hurt because the upgrades weren't done on time....NO...so don't sweat the small stuff people!

RIP Chance

I personally love OLS, no matter if an upgrade comes through or not.

I just wish Brent would stop promising one thing and doing something totally different.

If it happens, cool, if not, its OK, just stop telling us that its going to happen on any particular day. I'm a paying customer and I deserve to be told the FACTS about what i'm paying for.

Till then im going to continue what ive been doing for the last 4 years now, and that is WINNING some sweet prizes.....

MY WINS:

This is how I feel.I have always thought the site was fine so I don't get the hoopla over it either. Some people were complaining about blogs and he said he would try and improve things then which I believe is why he originally set the deadlines but it hasn't worked out for one reason or another in that time frame. If he changes things fine if he doesn't do it for a while thats alright with me.

i agree that this site is the best out there; i have not been a member no where long as many of you. However I do enjoy sweeping and waiting for that big win. I can understand the frustration of having a set deadline for the upgrades and am anxiously awaiting them as I feel there are many great improvements. Yet, I feel there is a key thing that most whom are frustrated over the missed deadlines have forgotten.

Was it not the current site and current set up and current configuration that has permitted so many great wins? Was it not the incredible amount of time that has been invested into the site by Brent and the mods that have allowed your entries and wins?

I think we all need to be VERY thankful that this site exists and is constantly updated and for countless incredible wins instead of bashing it. Yes, its not fun to have missed deadlines for the upgrades and new site. HOWEVER, whats more important to you? An updated site w/ all the newest sweeps daily and a site the allows you to enter all of them or a new layout?

I'm with the crowd that wants the update and appreciates updates on the update.

Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want,
but the realization of how much you already have.
