I agree 100%, both my orange tabbies, Cheddar and Garfield were the friendliest cats I have ever had and I miss them both so very much.

careful with the name pets seem to want to live up to the name you give them

Okay, I'm going to try a picture. He's grown so much in a month. I managed to catch him sitting still.
Fireball is a great name, I asked the golden what she thought of it, and she said,
"ball? what ball? where's the ball? throw it! throw it! So, probably not. Don't let that
sweet face fool you, at this very moment he's pushing books off my shelves.

my all-time favorite was a black and white. So smart and fun. The boys named him Freddie.

He's adorable and he sounds as mischievous as my Desiree. And just in case you were thinking he'll mellow out as he gets older, she will be 10 years old next month and is still getting into trouble on a daily basis.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

So darling, and your pets are "color-coordinated!"

I can vouch for that! We adopted a male orange tabby stray 13 years ago. He has been my sweet special love ever since. He was super skinny with a really high pitched cry and just seemed really girly. I was convinced he was a girl and named him "Bridget". it was about a month before I could afford to take him to the vet where we found out he was a boy and learned that is the case for the majority of orange tabbies. Ooops. Well, in addition to being very sweet, he was also very smart and learned his name really quickly. My daughter refused to believe he was a boy and continued to call him Bridget. Now we pretty much just call him Bridge or one of dozens of other non-gender specific nicknames but we do use female pronouns when talking about him/her.
A few months ago we adopted a Female 11 month old kitten from the Humane Society named Callie and Ironically, I call her Striker Joe. She's a whirling dervish little bruiser that one; into everything but I love her dearly.

Congratulations on your new furbaby!

More housekeeping? lol...."You've had these books for far too long. Time to recycle them and make room for some scratching posts and a comfy cat bed!" 😸

Too funny about your golden and the fireball name

He does have a very sweet face!

Is he really orange or is he "Buff" or "Cream" colored, like a light orange?

So I gave this way too much thought, and if I were an artist, I'd have much better ideas. I looked at color charts, and Pantone, and decided on "Tawny". Ginger cats are not actually red, or orange, fruit colors. Perhaps pale amber on buff, or goldenrod, or something like "Pantone 2433 C". Crash Bandicat is def on the darker end.

or Hex #c57742: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/816699713653308220/
or RGB(235, 152, 78)

Stuff I also found when educating my poor color sense:

Tabbies have 4 coat types, classic (swirled), mackerel (striped), spotted, and ticked (agouti).

He's a Very happy little guy, now. Sweet little voice, and when he's looking for "fun" by himself, he trills quietly, which is so endearing. He also smells nice, and always uses the pan.

Yesterday, Precious Angel loosened a plug, way, way back under my desk, just enough to cause some sort of electronic "loop", which resulted in Extremely Loud, Shrill Feedback, that I couldn't find, (hands and knees, flashlight, dusty hair,) to fix, and it went on for five hours, till DH got home to test all the wires. Lil' Loki is getting more creative. I still had to get work out, so, headphones, 'till I couldn't stand it anymore.

Which wouldn't matter, if he was socialized to us, rather than the Very Good Dog. There's no cuddly lap sitting, and when picked up, he squirms. He also has that rescue panic about food and fresh water. Any ideas? We play with him, and love on him constantly. (And hug him and squeeze him and pat him and pet him, and call him George.)
