win but not?
I won a Disney Classics Vault set of DVDs from a blog. I was notified of my win on May 15th. I sent all the requested info to the blog owner and waited...after a month I contacted the owner again. The reply was that I should contact her/him if I didn't receive the prize by June 26th. On June 28th I sent another email informing the blog owner I had not received my prize...no answer. So went to her Facebook page and left a comment informing her I had not received my prize....no response.

Now I am tempted to "out" this blogger here. I know it is not a huge prize, but it was one I was looking forward to and I believe if someone has a giveaway they should actually give away the prize!

Any suggestions on how to deal with this "dead beat blogger"?

Prizes are frequently fulfilled by sponsors and not by the bloggers themselves, so she may be waiting on an answer back from them. It would certainly help if she'd let you know that and keep in touch, though. I hope you get your prize!

Maybe reach out to the sponsor if possible?

I hope you have better success than I did. I had a problem with a blogger once and every time I got pushy, she mentioned some excuse including she was on "bedrest" for a problem pregnancy, so of course I just felt completely guilty. I even reached out to the sponsor, but never got a response. She made me feel so bad that I just gave up.

I have won a lot of nice things on blogs, so I will not give them up. Luckily this is the only problem I have ever had.

Good Luck!

It's probably the sponsors fault and not the bloggers , I won a a set of McDonald's Star Wars toys from a blog and of course the sponsor McDonald's screwed up the fulfillment and sent me extra toys and free food and drink coupons since I was late on getting my prize.

This has happened to me a couple of times and I got in touch with the sponsor via FB and received my prize. Most of the time the sponsor sends the prizes out.

sometimes it is easier to email the sponsor and ask if the prize has been sent out.

Yeah, but it makes it simple to blame the blogger each and every time, which is what happens 99% of the time. I had a sponsor "lose" the information that I sent to them and I didn't even realize that my winners hadn't received their prizes until they both contacted me. Thankfully, the sponsor came through and actually sent extra things to them.

But she could at least reply.

Thank you all for your responses. I know the sponsors are responsible for prize fullfillment, but I believe the blogger is responsible for keeping the winner informed....what bothers me the most is being ignored.

I will try to contact the sponsor.

Once, I received a congrats email from a blogger and I replied within 5 minutes. A few hours later, she wrote to apologize to me that she's sorry but she chose another winnner because she was using outlook express to email and you have to hit send twice sometimes...well she didnt and two days later she picked another winnner and managed to email THEM fine. Well when she emailed them and hit send all my original congrats email went out too.

When she emailed me back, all she did was apologize and offer to give me one of the prizes from one of her other giveaways....that didnt hit me right at all because I wanted MY prize, and Id feel terrible for taking another prize away from someone who didnt suspect what she was doing...
After much thought and coming here for advice, I ended up contacting the sponsor and telling them the whole story. After they contacted her and verified her mistake they sent my prize right out! She later apologized, but to me, it was an eye opener, and I stopped entering blogs for a couple of months until I learned to identify some trustworthy sites.

Wow. That's an interesting story. I think we should have a forum called Lessons Learned where people can share stories like this. We all have similar issues at one time or another and I think that it would be great if we can see how others handle them and learn from each other.

Ugh. As a blogger and a sweeper, I can feel the pain on both sides. I missed an email claiming a prize once, and went ahead and sent out a congrats to the next winner. After noticing my error, I ended up buying the prize for the original winner. My bad, and I guarantee I won't do it again.

If there is a contest the person holding it should at least keep the winner posted on the prize they won no matter how long it takes for a sponser to send it.

The worst part of the experience for me was feeling like I was tattling on the blogger, but she was so nervous about 'fessing up to her mistake to the sponsors that she was willing to do something unethical instead. You were brave and generous, that shows class and integrity
I'm pretty sure that blogger won't make that mistake again either lol I hope!
