do u think childhood abuse and drug addiction is correlated?

when I was in alateen I was told that because my father was an alcoholic, I had the chance to be one as well
so I am going to say NO to the alcohol addiction but maybe to the street drugs (I also think prescription drug abuse might be like alcohol...)
