The B12 Allergy Update......

Posted March 14th, 2008 at 3:30am by luvey
I went to the allergist this week in an attempt to resolve my vitamin B12 allergy.

It is vital for my upcoming surgery to have an acceptable B12 level. They will not do my gastric bypass until I am within the normal range. They also will not do the surgery if I cannot be on B12 post surgery.

The allergist decided to try to desensitize me to B12. We started out this week with an injection of 25mcg, I seemed to tolerate the small amount without much adverse reaction. My face got red and flush, but, no hives! That is a good sign.

I go in next week for another B12 injection, they will be increasing the dose each week by 25mcg. I hope that I am able to tolerate the 50mcg and that the desensitizing process works for me.
