I would like to plant some trees this spring and need a little advice on what kind to plant.
I need trees that grow relatively fast, full sun, and in red dirt. They will be used for privacy.
Any advice is appreciated. :)

Oh, and I'm in the middle of South Carolina.

Ooohhhh, I found this great nursery last spring http://www.millernurseries.com that sells everything. Each entry in their catalog has a zone next to it so you will know what you can plant in your area. The catalog also tells growth rate, final height and width.

You can check out their site and if you like it order a free catalog. If my url is wrong try "nursery" instead of "nurseries". Also, they have an excellent guarantee on their plants. A few of my grapes didn't take and they sent me new bigger vines for free.

Poplars grow 6 feet or more per year and are nice and leafy. They are real hearty and will grow in all sorts of soil. Going to plant some here this spring!

Hope, I can only advise you on what tree NOT to buy! My backyard is home to a walnut tree, which the squirrels love, and even put the walnuts in the gutters. It makes mowing the lawn very interesting, too. The other tree is the one the the whirlybirds or helicopters. What a mess!

I am in caliche soil here. My advice-check with your county extention agent-they should have info. for your area that will take into consideration the soil etc....
