Hope this isn't one way that flu going around starts -- anybody know? :scoot:

Toad, First I got the sore throat, Then a bad headach, fever, chills, then my back and legs hurt really bad for a day or two, Then I was just plain sick for almost a week and a half. I still have a bad cough.
I sure hope you are not getting the flu.......Get well.

Bronchitis would usually come after the flu if they are related. It is often a secondary infection from a cold or the flu and it is nasty. I hope you get to the doctor soon. My daughter and husband are both dealing with this. No flu at this time. Daughter had 103 fever and was coughing and sneezing and FULL of snot. She can go through a box of tissues in a day or so--really. I hope the Z-pack and the cough meds work soon for her, but this cough will hang on a while longer from the sound of it.
Get Well Soon!!

this is my 2nd bout...this time I do have bronchitis and have to go to the doc for med. First bout was slight fever and dry cough with aches and pains. The 2nd time around I'm afraid I am down for the count. My teeth hurt and I have hot stabbing pains in my joints. It's ok tho....no spoiling Christmas for this family!!! We fooled it cos we aren't celebrating till Jan 7th!!!!!!! ( long story).
Hope you get to feeling better.
Oh yeah by the way if the doc says its ok and your'e a cigarette junkie, you can take PLAIN Robitussin to help expell the gunks...

The flu is pretty severe, I mean you'd KNOW it I think. It's vomiting, extreme tiredness, soreness, etc.
I get bronchitis at least once every two years, it knocks me on my butt but it's no where near the flu for me anyway.
Get some Zicam (nasal spray) if you can - the stuff for colds, not allergies. That stuff is kinda pricey but it seriously knocks out colds and such for me (and my DH, parents and IL's!) before they hardly even start! That stuff is a GOD send for some people I think!! :)

You guys are right -- just bronchitis. Right after an interview for a job tomorrow (please cross your fingers for me -- this sounds like it might be one cool boss if they hire me), I'll be heading for the doctor.
Anyone tried those vapor patches you can put on your chest? -- those are so nice for clearing congestion (I like eucalyptus anyway). A few years back discovered Thera-Flu is pretty good for symptoms -- I've been able to "go to work" sometimes after taking them, when beforehand I questioned my ability to function.
Also, steaming, steaming, steaming. My shower is getting very tired of seeing me there several times a day, but it's going to have to put up with me so the lungs don't get dry and scratchy -- good to keep one pan filled with water on the stove for the same reasons. But if drops collecting on the ceiling start "raining" on you, you've got the water on too high, lol.
Hope everyone's staying warm! Portland had snow this morning, first time in a couple years!

Toad - Oh I've had many days of steaming my boys!! Then they'd look up while sitting in their car seats wondering WHY on earth something was dripping on them. ;)
Good luck w/ the job!!!

I heard if you take 1 zinc tablet within the first 24 hours of feeling like you're coming down with something, it will prevent or reduce the length of time you are sick, and, I promise, it has worked for me about 3 times already this year! I have not even had a cold! Last year I got bronchitis really badly.

Good advice -- I'm sucking on Halls Multi Blend coughdrops that contain Vitamin C, Echinacea and Zinc -- been coughing my head off the entire day with this, but I'm definitely at the stage where everything is determined to "run it's course," it appears. Oh well, with the nice half-foot of snow outside, I really didn't need to be running around town a lot anyway!

Toad,
I'm very susceptible to bronchitis - in fact I'm figting a mild case right now. :worry: I always keep Robitussin (CF or PE) on hand. It works wonders for me. I also think chloraseptic sore throat logenzes work the best plus I chew on a couple of zinc/echinacea/vitamin C tablets a day.
This regimen seems to work for me..good luck on your interview and hope you feel better soon!
