Hi,
I had gotten a couple of Colby MP3 players for Christmas gifts....does anyone know if Itunes can be used on a non apple brand? Just wondering since I was also buying Itune giftcards if they can be use on the Colby MP3 players?
Thanks for any info & happy holidays.

There are a couple of free add-on programs you can choose one of, that enable iTunes to talk to non-Apple MP3 players. :)
iTunes Agent: http://ita.sourceforge.net/
iTunes Sync: http://www.binaryfortress.com/iTunes-Sync/

not sure if they still do this, but itunes charged a premium and you could download mp3 format "DRM (Digital Rights Management(copy protection)) free" songs that would play on any player. Otherwise, if you downloaded in the itunes default format, it was a real pain to convert them to regular mp3 for other players.
A better (AND cheaper) alternative is to use AMAZON.COM and buy mo3 downloads from them. They are cheaper, and are regular mp3 format files that work perfect on any computer or mp3 player with no hassles. Plus, Amazon runs $5. album specials and other promotions all the time.
We have 3 ipods in our house and while I love itunes for ease of use, once I started buying from Amazon, I never looked back! I can still use itunes but Amazons downloads sound great and are more affordable. And they work on all our ipods...
Some people check out cd's from public library and rip them into mp3 files for mp3 players, but thats against copyright rules, although I suspect a lot of people do it regardless.
